Fussy last wake window

Anyone else struggling with the last wake window? He is getting enough nap time during the day with the last nap always being about 40 minutes but no matter if it’s “good or bad” nap day he always just whines and cries for that last stretch. He’s a pretty chill baby the rest of the time.

I googled it the other day as he's always grumpy and hates bring put down in the evenings. Apparently 5pm is prime time for grumpiness regardless of nap due to the rise of melatonin as it approaches bedtime. In my case laying him down could make him worse as he doesn't want to be in the sleep position. It suggested having him in the carrier if I needed hands, or just walking to different parts of the house for a change in scenery, we spend some quiet time in the garden which seems to help. I also filled up a bowl with warm water and let him splash his feet around. I basically try and keep him away from the other two as i also think he gets overstimulated by their noise in the evenings. When it gets really bad i turn on the hairdryer. Not sure what it is about the hairdryer but since being a newborn it helps him calm.

Super frustrating! I also have a baby who only naps in the pram or car, the occasional contact nap if I’m lucky these days but pretty much needs motion and even with motion he’s now pretty much waking up after 40 minutes.. we usually get 1 nap that stretches to 1-1.5 hours but I think the sleep isn’t restorative enough during the day (according to google also ha) and he’s just exhausted. Thankfully he will go off to sleep relatively easily but only really lasting a hour now after last nap and it’s not very enjoyable for anyone 🤣🤣 he’s so happy all day aswell then boom

NAPPY/DIAPER PREFERENCE

So I’ve been trying out different nappies to find the best for baby girl. With my eldest daughter I used pampers and they were rubbish so I didn’t bother with them and switched to Aldi nappies and only used Aldi nappies with my son. Huggies are a no go for me.

So far number 3 (rascals) have been working the best for baby girl with number 4 in close second.

Which nappies if any of these have you found the best for your LOs?

1. Tesco (Fred and Flo)
2. Asda (Little Angels)
3. Most supermarkets (Rascals)
4. Aldi (Mamia)

If you have any other suggestions for other brands please feel free to drop a comment 🩷

Shein clothes

Im starting to look at getting some clothes. My partner doesn't like the idea of clothes from Shien because of the possible chemicals. Has anyone ever had any issues with baby clothes from them?

Does anyone else's baby sleep through the night? I'm worried because the last to nights my baby has slept from 10/11pm till 7am but this is a new thing that started about 3 days ago normally hed wake up around 4/5 for a bottle, hes having enough ounces during the day so I dont know whether he is cluster feeding then just sleeping through the night. But if I search it it says its unusual and could be something going on hes 3 months old xx

Toddler discipline...is it only spanking that works!?

My son is 2 in August and of course being very difficult now. I follow parenting clips online with Deborah tilman and she is great. No kid beating involved. But the comments are then full of people saying the kid needs spanking...
I have to admit gentle parenting won't really work on my son he doesn't want negotiations and explanations, he needs natural consequences as he just doesn't listen or understand. But I don't want to hit him...
For example bath time has become a fight so last night I just dumped him in still crying and washed him anyway, no messing.
Is there somewhere between spanking (illegal in the UK where I am) and gentle parenting?

Burping a newborn

Does anyone have any tips for burping a newborn. My baby is 2 weeks old and breastfed, and I've been really struggling to get any good burps out of him.

I know that breastfed babies generally have less gas, but sometimes he does the little gassy smile or scrunches his knees up & no matter what I try I can't get a burp out of him. He's also very fussy and wriggly when I get him into any burping position.

GHIC card for baby

Has anyone successfully applied for this for their baby? The NHS page says you need a NI number which obviously I don’t have for my baby. Otherwise it says I can add family members to my
own application, but I already have a card. Hope someone can help!
