I’m having a little bit of trouble with a spoiled kid! I feel like we don’t spoil him, but he acts very entitled he’s only four! And I know he’s still learning, but I’m scared! 😅😂 if you’re comfortable answering a couple questions about your parenting style, I would really appreciate it!
For Christmas/ birthdays, do you go huge? In a regular month how many toys, snacks, fast food, etc. are you buying your kids? How much TV is allowed? How often do you let them be bored?
Any tips would be appreciated! I’m just curious if there’s something I’m doing too much of!

We haven’t gotten to this age yet but we have talked a lot about it as I have a lot of childcare/school experience.
His family always goes BIG for Christmas. My family was poor and we didn’t get many presents. We agreed up to 2-5 presents for each kid, depends on the price of each present.
We plan on doing 2 toys a month, one for chores and one for potty training/grades, etc. ($10 max)
Snacks really I think depends on a child’s dietary needs but we are going to limit food dye/sugar as I have seen it help improve children’s behavior (I worked in a school for emotionally impaired students. Lots of crisis behavior/violence)
Fast food depends on the situation but not every week.
We are going to do no tv for the first year 1/2 then limit to 10/15 minutes. 4 years old an hour to an hour 1/2. Allowing children to be bored allows them to learn and explore. Not to need constant stimulation = better regulation skills not overly stimulated littles.

Mom of a sassy 3nager here lol. Tantrums and wining don’t work, I’ll say “is that how you get what you want?” Or “let’s take a deep breath and try that again with words.” She also knows to say please and thank you. Tantrums, not cleaning up, or not listening in general = no screen time for the rest of the day. Technically it’s not even screen time lol I got a projector so she wouldn’t be staring at an actual screen. Low stimulation or educational shows only— puffin rock, kipper the dog, jojo and gran gran, between the lions, Bernstein bears, Mr. Rogers, Arthur, and learning shows in Arabic. Birthdays and Christmas are special but simple. She actually asked for books instead of toys this year lol. New toys are rare here, and there’s certain ones I don’t allow at all because I feel it takes from their imagination. No fast food, we eat pretty clean (no sugars and dyes, minimal processed as possible). Water and milk, no juice. And several hours of boredom every day! Guess I’m crunchy? 😂

For this year no I didn't go " big" for his birthday he has had a birthday party at a play Cafe since age 3
This year I skipped it as I cldnt afford it
Take out we get weekly .I was brought up with take out is bad the answer is no ( my parents are old school strict that went for soda to)
Soda he goes a little nutty for ( I don't get it ) but I allow soda a few times a week it's not a big deal but I don't want him having to much of it
Christmas I normally tell him in sept ( round a bout) to make a list of all the things he'd like .
But I do tell him it can't be to expensive
I googled it and I'll say yes or no .or " will see"
( depending on the price)
This year for his birthday he didn't know what he wanted he's over toys
He wanted a mobile phone I was like yeah nah! I didn't get my first one til I was 21 (🤣 ) his friend has one I still said NOPE
I haven't replaced his ipad as he broke it
I can't afford another one ,plus I want him to understand if it breaks money doesn't fall out of the sky .

I replaced the screen only to have it broken a week later! I'll most likely get him one next year as he will need it for school
ATM he is using mums when we go visit

We don’t go huge, but we have family that will. So we choose to rein ourselves in a lot (we also just don’t have the money to go huge). A lot of things we get secondhand or even free off fb, and we talk to her about how kind it is for others to give away toys books etc when they don’t use them anymore, and we encourage her to do the same with things she’s outgrown/had newer versions of.
Probably pick up several ‘toys’ or books each month but as above these are usually charity shop finds or freebies, sometimes we put them away for future occasions and sometimes we just give them.
We buy or make snacks as part of our weekly shopping, she’s offered 1-2 a day but doesn’t always accept. And it’s either toddler friendly ones or things like fruit/raisins/nuts/cheese/crackers etc so not sweets or crisps.
She’s had fast food twice on holiday, otherwise we don’t eat it around her.
Generally she gets 20 mins of low stimulation tv with her bedtime milk every day. Shes bored right now 😂

We only buy books frequently from charity shops, as for Christmas and birthdays we do what he needs, books and a learning toy. We only get takeout once a month, snacks are things like bananas, crisps, digestive biscuits etc. We have the TV on for background noise but he has never been interested and he doesn't have a tablet, we only use a ceiling projector for songs only 😊

Both of mine are sassy but I wanted them to have a voice, my oldest is learning sarcasm and to go "mmm 🙄😒".
Christmas- both get about 15 presents in total (including family) 20 if you include cards with money. Usually its clothes and 1-2 toys, 1 member will do homemade ornament, Keychain, and a blanket each year.
Birthday- they get a choice of party, small trips, or a large trip. Small trips is going to different places spread throughout the month (children's museum, parks further away, big city places as we are rural) large trip is we will stay out of state in a hotel (or family/friends) for about a week and do things around there. As for presents we ask for things that coincide with trip plans or theme. Ex- go to beach: new beach towel, sandcastle things, books about the beach, etc. Farm party/trip: cowgirl outfits, boots, books, toy animals to go with barbies, etc.
We usually spend about $500 in total which we save up for. Which i know sounds like a lot but it includes gas, food, price of places/decor
