My 8 and a half month old refuses to feed herself in her cot. She will feed herself while I change her nappy or on the sofa but refuses to finish the bottle until I feed her in her cot to go to sleep or nap. The cot is really awkward and it’s killing my back! Anyone have any tips please??🙏

Can you not just take her out of the cot to feed her then put her back afterwards? She would probably like the cuddles with her bottle anyway. A lot of babies that age won’t feed themselves as they like the connection of someone else feeding them

It’s strange but she doesn’t want to be fed on me. That’s changed about two months ago. She likes to be fed in her cot. She’s very different from my others and extremely independent. It’s like she likes finishing her bottle in the cot to put herself to sleep.

I think it’s because she links the bottle with sleep as she has three a day and she will only have them before she sleeps. And she tries to refuse her sleep at first but once in cot she like the milk to help her fall asleep. It’s just killing my back leaving over it while she drinks. Classic fourth child throws me off 😂

It seems she has an association with the bottle and sleep and the cot seems to be harder for her to keep the bottle up for so long? My LO has his bottle whilst sat in a bean bag in his room so he doesn't fully fall asleep as we want to brush his teeth before bed as per our dentist recommendations- you could try a different routine fir her bottle at bed time to try to break that sleeo association and see if it works?
