My nearly 2 year old was having a tantrum and I was letting him finish it. He was tired and we were on our way to leave the event. It was a small private gathering.
A mum I know from nursery went and took him from my sight and put him on her knee.
I felt uncomfortable. Like she was undermining ms. What would you do?

Did it help him out of the tantrum? I would be appreciative that someone cared enough about my child to help him through a big emotion. Sometimes someone other than mom/dad is helpful to bring them out of an upset cycle

Even if it helped, to me...thats a no. We may know one another from nursery but it does not make us friends or family. It does not mean you are allowed to come and just pick him up while im there next to him and "help" him through it bevause you don't like how I'm navigating this moment. Thats not okay.
Now, if he was having a tantrum and you were not near him she may have not actually seen you around and may have thought he was upset and no one was there to comfort him. So, i would have simply went over and picked him up off her knee and said "thank you, I got him"

No I would be pissed off because why are you taking my child without even speaking with me? Also why are you taking him out of my sight?
