I have a 2yo currently at nursery and we’ve got the 30hours working parents hours and in August my youngest will start who will also get the 30 hours. I also use the tax free childcare.
However, my partner is starting university full time and has been told student finance can help with up to 85% of nursery fees, how does this work if I’m working and have the childcare etc in my name? Or are we best to just keep it how it is? Has anyone been in this situation before? It’s confusing enough without confusing it more 😵💫😅

I think you might have to go down university funding unless he will also be doing paid work equivalent to 16 hours minimum wage (or whatever the amount currently is) because I think thats a requirement of the funded hours to have both parents in work.
Im not sure how it works but id definitely look into it.

I would ring Department of Education and double check with them as to get the 30 hours both parents must be working. Otherwise it’ll be down to 15 hours if you’re working x

Oh gosh yeah I forgot that part 🤦🏻♀️ it’s such a minefield 😵💫 thank you x

It doesn't matter if nursery is in your name because it's about the household. I believe you partner will have access to https://www.gov.uk/childcare-grant
