Saw this the other day, which may help you decide on whether or not you’d want to try and use an electric pump / why it’s not advised…x

When I was pregnant with my first I hand expressed as it’s safer and I plan to do the same with my current pregnancy too the syringes the midwife’s give only take 1ml in each so there’s no need to collect loads at once x

Medela manual pump worked great with me. I started at 36 weeks and had plenty when baby was born x

I personally wouldn’t use an electric pump for colostrum. Colostrum is so thick that a lot of it can end up stuck in the pump parts, which is heartbreaking when every drop counts! I found hand expressing worked much better. If you have a Haakaa collector, you could pop that on the other side to catch any extra milk while you express. Just make sure everything is sterilised and check with your midwife if you’re unsure x

I have been using my electric pump but on lower volumes. Just listen to your body. Ive not had any contractions/braxtin hix. I collect every couple of days at the moment ive collected 26 mls of colostrum so far and done 3 collections

I used an electric with my first and will start for my second next week 🤷🏼♀️ agree with Nisa listen to your body if it hurts or feels too much hand express or manual pump xx
