C-section or episiotomy

I feel with the current state of UK maternity services if I attempt a vbac its either going to end in an emergency c-section or an episiotomy as ive been told my only option is a consultant led ward due to my first baby being breech went i went into labour. So should I go for an elective c-section or the inevitable episiotomy?

Both have their pros and cons… I’ve only had c-sections and recovery is tough… especially if you already have a child at home. My son was 13 months when I had my section with my second. I had no support at home so I had to do everything. An elective section is definitely better than an emergency one, recovery was so much nicer with my elective section than my emergency one. You can choose what music to play, you get to hold your baby straight away as long as they’re all good.
Just ensure you have someone to support you atleast for the first week x

I had 2 sections, my sister had an episiotomy. One of us was wheeled out the hospital in a wheelchair in pain and needed antibiotics, one of us took public transport home and went to Costco 2 days after. Me, the section mum recovered whilst my sister needed it redone and suffered incontinence for years till surgery fixed it.

It’s a conversation for your consultant but my C-sections were really easy and pretty pain free. No recovery issues, no pelvic floor issues, no scar tissue. I’ll have my third baby via section too any day over chancing it with current maternity services xx

I had an elective first time around. The recovery was much easier than I was expecting. Definitely seemed easier than friends who had episiotomies. Think I'll be opting for another elective this time around.

I wouldnt pick another c section but thats me. Mine was cat 2 emergency but wasnt really a rush, they were all super chill to be honest it was weird but also kind of nice as i was panicking. You can 100% give birth without the need of an episiotomy. Stay active in labour and use gravity to your advantage with the correct breathing techniques and you can avoid being cut.

Exhausted?

Does anyone else ever just feel physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted? Idk what to do anymore, I’m not sure who to talk to about it, if I tell my husband he’s gonna take it super personally like he does with everything and I’m not dealing with that 🤦‍♀️

Vbac

Really wanting to do a Vaginal birth after having my C section 4 years ago..
Had an appointment yesterday explaining the pros and cons to both but I’m feeling really stuck with making a decision. I will probably go for an epidural as well which can also slow down labour..
When I had my first baby I had no choice but to do C section where as now the ball is in my court…
