Tap block

I don’t know if you guys have ever tried or been given a TAP block during your C-section, but I’ve heard it can help a lot with the pain afterward.

When I had my emergency C-section, I don’t remember feeling any burning. I do remember it hurt and that it was hard to move around, but I don’t remember being in severe pain. Since I’ve seen so many women say their C-sections were extremely painful, I’m wondering if maybe I was given a TAP block without realizing it, or if I just had a pretty good experience overall.

I’m having my C-section with the same doctor, so do you think I should ask about getting a TAP block, or is it likely my recovery will be similar to the first time?

Same I don’t recall feeling any pain during or after my c section whereas my friends say it was really painful specifically for 2 weeks after 😩 now I’m scared to have another one incase this happens to me

I had a spinal block for mine. I am now 5 weeks PP. I was petrified by the thought of c section and didn't want it but had to and honestly I don't think it could have gone any better, didn't feel a thing! Recovery after was a dream too, very sore for several days after of course but was absolutely manageable with the painkillers they sent me home with xx

I didn’t have a TAP block for my unplanned slightly emergent csection, with a previously placed epidural. But I know they gave me pain medication via suppository while they were prepping me for the surgery and I pretty much had zero pain following.

I had the spinal in theatre and opted in to all the drugs (the one in your bum is amazing!) but I didn’t get a TAP according to my surgical notes and discharge papers.

TBH though I’ve never had much pain worse than period cramps after either section.

I didn't have this with my first, just a spinal, but they are recommending a general anaesthetic for this delivery and have said they would do a TAP too then so I'm not in as much pain when I wake up.

If you did have a TAP block it will be documented in your medical notes.

You can definitely ask. Recovery can vary but typically it's harder if you already have a child to look after too.

I’ve never had a TAP block but I’ve never found any of my recoveries particularly painful or difficult. I’m 8 days PP now following my third c section and I haven’t taken any paracetamol or ibuprofen for about 5 days already. You might just have a high pain threshold or be one of the lucky ones x

Haemorrhaging after c section

Hi all, I had a c section 2 weeks ago and was feeling good. Able to do short walks, play with my eldest son more, go for nice lunches. It was all going well until I started hemorghaing on Friday afternoon. I have spent the weekend in hospital and had surgery this morning to remove excess tissue and huge blood clots from my womb. The pain I’m in now is worse then day 1 and 2 of my c section. I’m so gutted to be back here and wondered if this has happened to anyone else? I’m really down about being in this amount of pain again and would love to chat to someone else who has had the same thing x

do I need to call triage?

for about an hour now my sight has been a bit blurry and weird, I had pins and needles in one hand for a good 5/10 minutes but has gone now and I feel like I’m getting a headache but I’m not sure if that’s because I had a bit of a cry

96th percentile baby help and advice

I am 32 weeks + 6 days pregnant and earlier this week I was sent for a growth scan that showed my baby is in the 96th percentile weighing approximately 5 pounds. I’m now weighing up my options of elective c-section or induction at 39 weeks. I have another scan at 36 weeks to confirm if she is still measuring big and then an appointment with a consultant. Does anyone have experience of this? I’m unsure now of what to do birth wise as I had in my head a natural water birth but that may not be the case. I was dead against c-section but now I’m thinking twice.
