Stay at home mum

I’m a stay at home mum at the moment to my little toddler who has just turned 2. I wasn’t really happy in my work before I had him, but because I was self-employed I was able to manage things in a way that worked. He is in nursery 2 days a week because that’s all we can afford, but it’s been so tough finding work since I’ve been out of it for 2 years now.

I’m tempted to get a job and put him in more days, but with the price of nursery fees I’m not sure how appealing it is, and the fact that I’m pregnant again and due to go on maternity leave from December, I’m not sure how employers would feel about me as an employee.

I feel like a bit of a failure not bringing in any money and being a stay at home mum. My husband keeps telling me we’re fine and we don’t need the extra money, but I guess it’s more the fact that we’ve had to give up all little luxuries like trips away, or just being able to buy myself something nice every so often. Is anyone else in the same boat?! Sorry if this is real first world problems.

You are not a failure. You’re due another baby and you have a toddler to look after. Your children are your priority. I can understand the situation you’re in though, I haven’t been in work for a while and I’m also due in December. Unfortunately you do have to make sacrifices as a parent. Sometimes you won’t be able to buy yourself nice things or go away to nice places but if it means you can afford to give your children a safe loving home, that’s what matters 💗

Thanks, think this is what I needed to hear. I do love being a mummy and so excited to have 2! I’m just scared of losing myself along the way I guess. But I know there will come a time when I’ll be able to dive back into work again. So you’re right, it’s the sacrifice we make. Thank you!

Dinner time

Is anyone else struggling with what to make their LO for dinner every evening?

I find it so stressful! Trying to think of something nutritious and different all the time, I feel like I rotate between the same few meals a lot and I feel terrible for it 😩
Bubs is 14mo for reference 🫶🏻

Second child but no sex!

So i have a 10 month old will be 11 months in 6 days. In just 7 months my boyfriend said we can try for a second one. But im like im 31 im not getting any younger and I know it's harder to get pregnant the higher in age you are. Well here is the issue. We dont have sex. So how does he expect to get pregnant when we dont have sex and he cant just espect to have sex maybe 3 times a month and think that will be enough. Im just so overwhelmed and upset. Trust me I hate having a sexless relationship even if we aren't trying to get pregnant

Do you always have a side dish with dinner?

I have a hard time figure out side dishes most of the time.

Can we please stop making posts asking for “mom friends” if you have no intention of actually being one?

I see so many posts saying, “I need someone to text,” “Let’s make a group chat,” or “I just want mom friends,” and then when someone actually reaches out… nothing. One word replies, no effort to keep the conversation going, never asking anything back, and the group chat never even gets made.

At some point, I think some people need to get to know themselves first. How am I supposed to get to know someone who has no interests, no hobbies, no opinions on anything, and whose entire personality is just “I’m a mom” but they can’t even text back?

Being a mom is a huge part of who we are, but it shouldn’t be the only thing there is to talk about. Tell me what music you like. What shows you’re watching. What hobbies you have. What you believe in. What makes you laugh. Let’s have an actual conversation.

Friendships don’t magically happen because we both have kids. They take effort from both people. If you genuinely want mom friends, you’ve got to be willing to show up as a friend too.

When someone messages you after your “looking for mom friends” post, be honest do you usually…

Work from home

Hi everyone! I'm a stay-at-home mom looking to start earning an income from home. I'm hoping to find a legitimate remote job that's flexible enough to work around my child's schedule. I'm open to learning something new. If anyone has recommendations for companies hiring remote workers, websites you've had success with, or advice on getting started, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much! 💛

When your partner has a day off, its mostly time for …

I know it’s likely a mix for most households, like it depends on the day, but MOSTLY?
