For those with GD, or just big babies - when have your sections been scheduled for? my baby was estimated to be 8lb 1oz at his 35 week scan last week, and my section has been booked for 38+2. I’m a little confused about this, as my daughter born in 2024 was measuring 8oz smaller than this baby at the same gestation, yet was delivered at 36+4 via scheduled c-section weighing 9lb 13oz. I don’t know whether to discuss this with my consultant or not.
For reference, i have GD and currently on 22 units of insulin a day, i feel like i should have my section earlier than it’s currently planned for?

It is safer to have your section later if it is safe for you to do so to ensure baby has built up surfactant in their lungs. Most sections are scheduled for 39 weeks so it’s good yours is earlier than this. As it’s a c section it doesn’t matter on their size as they are being delivered via the sunroof so can be bigger :p.

I have GD I’m currently 37 + 5, my section is booked for Thursday I will be 38 + 2 as he is measuring big.
At my scan a week ago he was measuring 8’1.
I’m currently on only 4 unit of insulin plus medication.
This is also my second child (didn’t have GD with my 1st and she measured small)
I think every hospital/consultant have different ways/ideas of how to treat there patients.
