Raising a mixed baby without father's cultural influence

Hiya,

My son is half Indian and I am Puerto Rican. My ex and I do not speak, nor do I speak with any of his family members. I don't know what I'm doing in regards to his cultural heritage and I really don't want him to grow up missing a part of himself. I would love to expose him to his other side, but I don't know where to start. Has anyone been through this before? Do you have any advice?

I havent been through it as per say but I am part of the Asian community. I thought id share some more details that might be helpful. If you dont mind sharing what part of India your partner was from? India is such a vast country and cultures do actually differ massively depending on which state they are from. What i would say as a good start is joining local communities specific to his origin. Many fo cultural events, sports days, language classes ect that is helpful. Many Indians who married/children of mixed parents are openly welcomed. Another way to connect- is of course religion as this is a huge part of most indian culture. You dont have to be hindu (guessing) to enjoy attending temple, and the Chariot festivals. Finally, many melas ..but do share exact origin and I will be happy to try and help

I'm puerto Rican too. My oldest is mixed. But nothing crazy nor no I think his father or his side of the family did anything special to celebrate their culture. I do what I think i can like i try teaching him and coming meals from it. He doesn't like it lol. But in your case depending on what type of Indian you mean they have spaces and churches that are welcoming and if you explain what your trying to accomplish they will help you & welcome you in to teach you more to teach your child

Not done having babies

Does anyone else feel like they’re not done having babies? I’ve definitely got a touch of the baby blues, of course I’m so so grateful to have my baby here safe and healthy. However, I’m missing the pregnancy and everything that comes with it.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to say I’m done having babies. But my partner is adamant this is the last (however he said this after our last 2 🙈🤣)

I’m interested to know how you and your partners navigated this?

One and done

Hi! I’m 26 y/o and I’m 35 weeks and due in August! I have been anxious throughout this pregnancy and now I’m diagnosed with GAD. I have been wondering if I won’t be able to do this whole pregnancy thing again with a toddler running around. I feel like that’s it. I want to do one and done, also, because of financial reasons as well. In my head, it just doesn’t seem feasible, mentally and financially, that I’d like to have more babies.

Did anyone regret the IUD?

Ever since I got it I haven’t felt right. My doctor said it’s the best one because it only releases hormones in the uterus and not the whole body like the others. But I literally had a mental breakdown about a week after I just snapped, I bleed for like 3 months, and everytime after sex. I started withholding sex because it became miserable and my period stopped for about 2 months and when we finally had sex again I got the worst period ever that same night. Haven’t felt like that since high school even my back is out(and not from sex🙃). Idk if all this is normal but I’m thinking of getting it removed. My only problem is this was my last option really my partner is pretty reckless and I can not have another baby😭 3 under 4 I’m tapped out.
