Hello all. I was just wondering if anyone had any recipes for Jamaican chicken thighs. We've got my partner's dad's side of the family coming for our little ones 1st birthday so wanted to season some of the chicken how they would usually like it. Now I actually have an allergy to chilli so it would be something I wouldn't be able to taste myself and my partner is vegetarian so wouldn't be able to either. I'm hoping if I follow a trusted recipe or tips from you lovely lot then hopefully I'll be able to make something they'd really enjoy and be impressed by. Thankyou in advance 🤗

Hey Jamaican here , wym Jamaican chicken thighs recipe ? U can curry it , brown stew it or make fricasse chicken. My fav is def fricasse chicken and I make it for my Mexican husband a lot and he likes it. We don’t use chili to season , it’s mostly onion powder , garlic powder , all purpose season , salt and black pepper and depending on what u chose curry powder or browning

search up jerk chicken recipes. i’m not sure if they sell the bottles of jerk seasoning where you are but that’s an extremely simple way to do it

Look on tiktok and try and find an authentic recipe to follow. You can buy jerk seasoning and jerk paste from super markets so that could be an easy option x

Order something?

Personally I wouldn't go for the supermarket jerk paste it doesn't taste authentic at all and jerk chicken only tastes proper when cooked on the coals
Thankyou for the replies I've had so far. I really enjoy cooking, so don't mind if it's not easy. I just want it to taste as authentic as possible, so have been a bit sceptical of recipes online or jars of sauce/paste, as I don't know how authentic they truly are. We usually go there, so it's usually them cooking. I just really wanted to make an effort they'd be impressed by, especially as his Grandma was born and raised in Jamaica ☺️

My husband loves this one:
Jamaican chicken thigh jerk receipe
For the marinade:
8 boneless or bone-in chicken thighs
3 spring onions, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic
1–2 Scotch bonnet peppers (remove seeds for less heat)
1 tbsp fresh ginger, chopped
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp ground allspice (pimento)
1 tsp dried thyme (or 1 tbsp fresh)
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
Juice of 1 lime
1 tbsp white vinegar
Blend all the marinade ingredients until smooth.
Coat the chicken thoroughly.
Marinate for at least 8 hours (overnight tends to taste better)
Remove from the fridge 20–30 minutes before cooking.
Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
Place chicken on a wire rack over a baking tray.
Bake for 35–45 minutes, turning once halfway through.
For extra char, grill (broil) for the last 3–5 minutes.
