My son is 9 months old and has been at nursery for just 2 weeks. Today I was told that he bumped his head again — this is the second time in the exact same spot since he started nursery.
He isn't crawling yet, but he's trying to crawl and is becoming much more mobile. From what I understand, he may have been sitting on a cushion and rolled off, although I'm not completely sure exactly how it happened. The nursery has a mix of carpeted and wooden flooring.
His carer said they applied an ice pack and that he seems completely fine now, but I'm feeling quite concerned and upset, especially as this has happened twice in such a short period of time.
really appreciate hearing from other parents — how common is it for babies this age to bump their heads at nursery/daycare? And what would you expect the nursery to do to prevent it from happening again?

Baby’s can get more bumps ect as they start to be more mobile you will probably find they have more when they are walking ect.
One thing I would keep an eye on how often it actually happens if it happens every single week ect then look into what’s going on.
They should also phone you and send you home with a head bump form informing you what to do if your baby reacts from the bump.
And you would have to fill an accident form in which would state how it happened and what first aid ect was given.

As a nursery practitioner myself, this is very common and normal as they are trying to become more mobile especially as although they will be keeping a close eye on your child with there being other children in the room they cannot have eyes 24/7 so sometimes small accidents like this happen. Keep an eye on how often it happens and if you’re not happy you can always talk to the nursery but as it stands this is very common x

Very very common 🙈 i had an accident form every other day out of the days he was in 🙈 its lessoned now hes two 😂
