I’m almost 3 months PP now and I love being a mum, it’s everything I ever dreamed it would be.
However what isn’t is the lack of joint responsibility as a parent from my husband. Since Freddie was born I have done every night shift, every bedtime feed/routine, I carry the mental load (bottle prep, bottle washing, nappies, inventory, day trips and feeding times) and he doesn’t seem to understand the weight of carrying it alone. I have worked so hard to establish a good nighttime routine to the point where he is sleeping 7-7 and feeding once in the night and I don’t want him to undo that. There are so many tasks that he could do that could lift the weight off my shoulders but doesn’t and I just feel like I shouldn’t have to spell it out for him.
I guess I’m just looking for advice on how to be less controlling, it’s just hard because he hasn’t shown any interest unless I complain about it and wants to prove a point that he can do it. It’s destroying our friendship and causing far too many arguments.

My child is 3yrs old and my husband is the same. Men are not like us...they are simple creatures 🤣. You just gotta tell him what you need help with/what needs doing.

Unfortunately men are wired so differently to us, so he likely will need it spelling out in capital letters in thick black marker!! 😆
If I were you I would write out a list of all the "small chores" (which we know aren't especially when they all add up) that would help you out, show HIM ONCE exactly how to do each one, and tell him what time of day each needs to be done to keep the routine ticking along nicely.
In the long run, it'll ease everyone's stress / resentment, and will keep your relationship on track.
Ps - please share that bedtime routine as 7-7 with one week sounds great! My youngest is 9 weeks and sleeps a 5 hours stretch, feeds, has another hour or so, and is up for the day from about 5am!

I'd say just stand your ground and ask for what you need. If you end up snapping, you can always blame it on the postpartum hormones 😅. And honestly, hearing "men are just different" doesn't really help when you're dealing with the day-to-day reality.
