Hi!!
I think I just need to vent and see if anyone else can relate to me. I have the habit of telling everyone about my 16 month old but I start with all the bad things first. I say things like oh she’s a bad sleeper, she doesn’t self soothe, oh you guys are so lucky your baby sleeps on their own and sleeps through this one is not a good sleeper. I say things like oh my daughter is a firecracker it’s so hard to keep up with her. When my mom or sister call to talk they ask how she’s doing I tell them everything starting with how she was cranky and fussy when I tried to put her down to sleep and how she was jumping all over the bed when I was trying to settle her down and I feel so bad afterwards because it sounds like I am complaining which in a way I am. It sounds like I am labeling my own child as a difficult child and over sharing the small little moments. Can anyone else relate? Am I being a bad mom?

You are not being a bad mom. I do the same thing about my 16 month old son. I love him more than anything but he takes a lot of my energy and tests my patience all the time. It’s ok to be overwhelmed by your child and to confide in your village. I’ve also found it helpful to ask other moms for pointers so I don’t get so overwhelmed. Just keep trying new things to keep your little one moving. We discovered that my son LOVES bike rides and it’s the only time he is calm enough my husband and I can have a conversation so now it’s a nightly ritual. Just remember kids are changing all the time and what’s challenging you now will make you a better mom. You got this!

There’s nothing wrong with any of this and your not a bad mom. Motherhood is an uphill battle and not a one size fits all and I know you think about all the good moments too and cherish them but it’s hard out here your doing great mama 🫶

I don't think your being a bad mom I think oversharing can be a thing especially as kids get older, but like my son if my mom or sister asked how it's going ill bring up the same things like oh rough night sleeping he's teething he's not a difficult kid most the time and I'm not saying he is difficult but he's a baby he's hurting or fussy or happy he crys and shits his own pants but that's what babys do I'm not trash talking my baby he cant control these things we are both still learning but we shouldn't dwell on these moments to long because after saying all the hiccups I think we remembering to highlighting good things is a good habits to build like we are working on flashcards and he's starting to copy more sounds or we drawing today he's getting really good at holding the crayons correctly or he's startingto put his own shoes now might put them in the wrong feet but he's learning. But just like sleeping and rough nights they are still learning to sleep through night.
