I’m interested to hear people’s experiences! We are hoping for a 3’ish year age gap and my daughter still breastfeeds and co sleeps (won’t be changing either until she wants to)… my little girl always wants me to hold her, cuddle and obviously she’s on me a lot with feeding.
I’ll be having a planned Caesarian next birth due to a traumatic natural birth before with significant tearing so trying to think ahead and feeling anxious about it!

Its brutal i have an 18month old and a 6week old and my baby constantly wants a bottle xxx

We were in a very similar position although my boy was 2.5 when his brother was born. You won’t be able to lift your toddler without doing serious damage for at least the first few weeks. My toddler self weaned at 25 months when I was a few months pregnant as my milk dried up and moved to just cuddling a boob. We then transitioned to him co-sleeping with dad instead of me in preparation for me to co-sleep with the new baby. My toddler kicks and moves a lot in his sleep so again I wouldn’t recommend co-sleeping straight after surgery. It’s most painful to get in/ out of bed so it was much easier being in a separate space knowing he was safe with dad.
It’s hard but absolutely do-able. My toddler was very cross with me when I came home from hospital (he’d never been without us before) but he came round and now him and baby are the very best of friends x

My girl was 2.5 when her brother was born and tbh I found it quite easy. Due to him being born at 37 weeks I was home alone with both from day 4 onwards most of the day (husband had Xmas shifts pre booked). I was able to look after both, a bit tired but not in pain. I was at the park by about day 10, I’d have gone earlier but it was an awful winter.
Just take the meds religiously like clockwork, stay mobile, make easy meals and have snacks available to your toddler so you don’t have to grab much. I already had her using her toddler tower, getting used to a buggy board and reading about the new baby in books.
I showed my girl my wound so she understood mummy had a boo-boo. She wasn’t fazed, she understood mummy was sore and had a new baby to help with. She fed him pumped milk and fetched me nappies.

I’m about to find out in sept/oct. My doctor made me think about trying for a vbac but I decided on a c-section. He said the recovery will be a lot harder and I’ll need help which I will have. My mil is coming to help for the first 3 months which I’m super thankful for. Just make sure you have help and support as you won’t be able to lift your toddler or do a whole lot. I’m hoping recovery is easier this time since I won’t be in labour for 30+ hours before and sleep deprived.
