Hi! I’ll be having my next baby in January 2027 and stuck between having a elective c-section as my birth with my son was so traumatic or trying for a VBAC but i just want to know how is having a C-Section Recovery with a toddler & newborn. I’m just so worried as my toddler is attached to me and is such a mummy’s boy. Any advice would be so helpful.
Thank you

I was worried about this, I had a 3 year old when I chose an elective section. After such a traumatic horrible experience first time around, VBAC just meant risking that again and for me it was elective all day every day. It was such a healing experience in many ways to be honest and recovery was great because I knew what to expect and what to do (lots of painkillers and moving around).
It wasn’t an issue for me personally and I’d do it all again x

I was in your position last year and I chose c section because my first birth was also traumatic and I suffered from ppd after wards.
It ended in an emergency c section so I wanted to avoid that.
With my 2nd I got to 5cm and had strong contractions but I still decided to stick to the plan of the planned c section.
Afterwards I immediately regretted it with my then 4 year old son because the adjustment was very hard on him and it took months for him to come around. I kept telling myself that I couldn’t don’t so much more with him if I decided to go with the VBAC but then my birth this time around was so memorable and special because my husband and I could both witness it.
That’s the only thing I regret about having the c section was my older son struggling. I had my parents over from South Africa to help me and that made recovery easier but maybe your son is too small to fully comprehend what it means to have a sibling.
Good luck with your decision and go with what feels right

I personally, couldn’t stomach having another traumatic birth and then having to overcome that with a 4 year old and a newborn

I’m in the same boat as u but Iv chosen to go for an elective c section ,I think if u have the support around u and people willing to help out u will be okay

I have a 2 year old and do in 6 weeks. I am worried too. I need some advice as my husband works at night and will only get a week off so I will be home with both children by myself while recovering.

I had an emergency CS with my second and my daughter was 18 months (very active on the go toddler that does not stop) and it was way easier than I thought it was going to be. Even tho she was 18m she did understand that I was feeling poorly and had a ‘badie’. It does help you not just sit down and not do anything for ages as that doesn’t help your recovery. X
