my new born is just over 3 weeks old, she will not settle down for naps much during the day & becomes so over tired we can never get her to sleep. She has wake windows of up to 6 hours during the day, sometimes it’s been longer. (With no nap inbetween)
We have tried everything we can think of but feel these wake windows are not normal.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Are you trying to get her to sleep lay down? Have you tried a baby carrier instead?

My baby loves white noise, or going outside in the carrier. That does sound like an awfully long wake window, is she happy and settled when she’s awake?

What ends up helping her fall asleep eventually? Has some movement either in the car, stroller or rocking helped/ not made a difference? Could she be in pain or hungry still? Is there too much stimulation when awake?

My little one is 6 weeks now and I had the exact same thing as you, he was up for hours and I could never get him down, he’s a lot better now. I found feeding him in a dark room with white noise on would eventually settle him to sleep.
Does she cry/seem unsettled during her wake time?

I had the same problem with my baby, the only way was holding him while breastfeeding, I hold him sometime for 2h maybe just so he can sleep, remember your baby sleeps but not into deep sleep, if she closes her eyes , she sleeping. So its normal

My now 8 week old was the same, she’d be awake for hours and then scream because she was overtired. She only got better after I started using white noice and a swaddle for daytime naps. She’s also on lactose free milk due to an allergy which has helped her too

I have the exact same issue with my lil boy, up for hours and nothing seems to settle him he just fights us on everything. The only thing that occasionally works is feeding but it will only be a short nap

I find my 3 week old only really settles either in the pram / car or on me at the moment. Working progress 😂

My 2 week old, has long wake windows too. Wearing a sling and going for a walk puts him to sleep straightaway or a drive in the car.
At night he gets up every hour, and using my breast for comfort as well. Thinking to co-sleep tonight to see if that helps him sleep longer stretches
How is her night time sleeps?
