This is a very vulnerable post for me so please give me some grace
I had my 1st child in 2023 and when they were around 6 months old, my mood plummeted. I felt like I had an identity crisis, I started imagining things that weren't real and started believing that they were, and it felt like my mind was telling me to do things that were completely uncharacteristic of me.
I didn't get help and looking back I probably should have. I fell pregnant again when my 1st was around 18 months and my moods seemed to have settled down.
My 2nd was born in 2025 and when they were about 3 months, my mood sank again. But this time it was more intense. I don't feel that Ive been able to connect properly with my baby, I'm having panic attacks nearly daily, I cry, I'm full of anxiety, I'm on edge all of the time, I feel so overwhelmed constantly and I feel like I'm treading water and getting no where. My youngest is now nearly 1 and my eldest is now 3. I feel like the worst mum to them. I want to be better but my tank is empty.
I contacted my GP today to discuss antidepressants and let them know I'm struggling. I've never had issues with my mental health before having kids, and I don't know if I'll feel myself again.

Have you had any blood tests done to check what you're low on?
I would start there. Check folate, b12, vitamin D, Iron. Low levels can cause or contribute massively to poor mental health.
Antidepressants don't gel with me for whatever reason but I use two natural supplements L-Theanine and Saffron capsules which both work amazing for anxiety and low mood.
I also carry propranolol with me and use it for physical symptoms of anxiety. I take them every now and again when I have a big day but At the time when I needed them most, It worked so well
I'd also advise going for therapy.
