Feeling done.
I have a 10 month old little boy, and my wife's family keeps trying to give him things to eat and drink that we don't allow. When we say no, they bully us and poke fun at us for our choices. Today, I came in from grilling supper and found a bottle of apple juice on the counter. I asked my wife who gave it to him, and she said it was her. Now, I know she didn't just decide to. Her mom pushed and she gave in. I'm so angry, because when I asked about it, she told me "I knew you were going to react like this!" I didn't get mad. I didn't raise my voice. I didn't name call or insult her or her family. I simply asked why I wasn't part of the decision. Her reasoning is because he wouldn't drink his water. SOOO WHAT!!! HE ISN'T DEHYDRATED. I feel like I have no control over our child. If I say something, it's not important. It's taken as a joke. It's irrelevant because it came from me. Now that my mother in law has had her way, there is no going back. She will assume it is fine to do anything she wants, now that my wife folded.
My wife told me it was just 2 oz of juice with 4 oz of water. It's no big deal. "He is going to have cake on his birthday..."
But that's not fair. Yes, we were going to let him have some cake for his birthday. That was a decision we made together. I wasn't even asked about the juice.
This is not the first time I have been excluded from decisions. MIL gave baby boy his first solids, without discussing it with us/me.
