To circumcise or to NOT circumcise, that is the question.

Hey ladies, so I'm about to give birth, like... he should be here tomorrow. and I'm torn between the two. His dad isn't and he's not really helping me with this decision and now its crunch time. I feel like dad hasn't had any issues and (tmi) but I personally think its pretty cool, and can see certain benefits of have a "pull back" but I've only had a daughter and this is my first (and last) boy. I asked one of my friends who didn't choose to circumcise her son and she said she wish she had did it. He's about five now and she says that it irritates him.
So now I'm like... what to do?!

In the uk it’s rare for a boy to be circumcised unless there is medical reasons, if given the option I would not circumcise my son, an if he wanted to in future that would be his choice

My husband said it’s cleaner to circumcise but my son still gets d*ck cheese…. but it would teach the son how to clean himself if you don’t get it

Avatar

It would also safe you the stress of seeing him like that

After the circumcision because it DOES HURT and I could tell my son was CRYING A LOTTTT

My partner is but my son isn't. It is like $400 to get it done and I didnt want my baby to go through that unnecessarily. We know how we are going to answer any questions he has about differences between him and his dad already.

You just have to clean it well and teach him to clean it properly too

My son is not circumcised and never any issues. Check out the website I posted above.

I had my oldest circumcised and regretted it so 13 years later when I had my second I didn't have him circumcised, and I don't regret it at all. So I'm in the no go lane.

We circumcised our son, no issues or complications he didn’t seek in pain at all. Ik a lot of people say u can teach yr boys to have a clean wee wee when uncut which is true but what they don’t tell you is how hard it will be to clean when your baby boy is an old man. I use to work in a nursing home and the amount of men that would has hygiene issues with their penis was very high compared to the circumcised old men

This is a really hard decision to make. I cant really persuade you one way or the other but I would definitely do some research. Also if you want message me. My boy is only 7 weeks so I dont have a lot of experience but he is uncircumcised. It's a whole story i could sare if you want. A lot of people are going to give you a lot of opinions and the best thing to do is what you feel you should for your child. You are his mom and that makes you his best advocate.

My recommendation is to go based on dad. He’s the one teaching baby boy how to use it, clean it, ect. It’s easier for him to teach what he knows.

All my children are intact.

Don't do it, unless it's for religious reasons. My partner isn't circumcised, my baby isn't either and there are no issues 😊

Avatar

Both my boys are but I left that decision up to my husband since he has those parts

I’m not gonna have it done to my son. I know my mom was on the fence when my brother was born and her nurse told her “when in doubt, follow whatever the dad is” and I think that’s a fair way to look at it if you don’t have a strong opinion one way or the other.

No we don't circumcise here. Why would we ? 👀

venting

i feel like my opinion doesnt matter. if i want to call the doctor about something that worries me its just ‘oh she’s fine, you always do that, that’s what the matter with you’ or did i ask his mom first. its always someone else telling me that she’s fine when i think she’s not. that i just get overlooked or ignored because im a first time mom.

Bath seat?

When did you guys stop using a bath seat for your little ones? We’ve kept using a bath seat for our 17 month old as he didn’t have any issues with it etc but now all he wants to do is climb out of it? How is your safely transition them out of using one? Any suggestions?

How do you all do it?

How do you let your baby’s daddy make mistakes? Things that you know don’t work or things that you know LO likes, I try to share these with my partner and he just gets angry at me and he thinks I’m being negative towards him, saying that he is doing it wrong.

I EBF and do all the night times and 98% of the daytime naps. My LO also contact naps during the day only (ever since being a baby and having a tongue tie, LO has always fallen asleep during a feed), which hasn’t been a choice, as LO will wake immediately when put down.

Just now my partner offered to take LO for a nap, after we had argued, as I needed a shower and he was talking loudly towards me while holding the baby, as he was walking upstairs. He put LO in the cot and then slammed the bathroom door to go for a wee before being nap trapped.
I tried to say that being loud and noisy isn’t helpful before putting LO down for a sleep and he got angry at me for it (while holding LO).
So how do you all just let things slide, when you know that you will have to deal with the aftermath of LO being an overtired/frustrated baby later on.
How do you do it?

Feeling like a failure

My little one is 18 months in a couple of days and I think I can count on one hand when he’s had a couple nights decent sleep. He’s never really slept through the night and is doing it more where he’s waking up and no matter what I do to settle him, he’s then awake for a couple of hours then back to sleep. No matter if he has a bad nap or a decent nap throughout the day. I feel like I’m failing and wondering if anyone else has had this?
