Would you fill up their stomach with something else they like? Pouches, snacks, cereals, yogurts? Or just give milk?

My 3yo has suspected neurodivergence so may be different. I’d offer 3-4 safe foods with his meal.
Such as today he had burgers, didn’t touch the burger but ate the baked beans, the carrots and broccoli and sliced cheese.
I wouldn’t let them go hungry but maybe keep the dinner available for as long as possible incase they want it a bit later

I always serve something on their plate that I know they have eaten before and like, and they can always have a yoghurt afterwards. If that’s all they choose to eat then so be it, there’s nothing else. I now have a 6 year old who eats pretty much everything so I think it worked well.

My son is a really good eater but at just about to turn 3 is starting to have a few more opinions about his food! I always make sure there's something I know he likes on his plate and he is allowed some fruit and a yogurt if he wants it afterwards regardless of what else he eats. But I'm so lucky he eats well so his overall food intake isn't a big concern of mine (I grew up with a sibling who is autistic and really struggled/struggles with food so I know!)

When my son was 1 we would always offer yogurt/fruit after dinner and milk with dinner. But since my child has usually been a good eater I wouldn't have worried too much about the odd skipped dinner.

Give 1 or 2 safe foods with new foods. As long as they try it ans keep trying it they may get used to it. Keep introducing the new foods with the safe foods. What I used to do is I used to mix in the new food with the safe food so say the safe food was mac and cheese I would mix the new food in with the mac and cheese

My 2.5 year old daughter is very fussy with food so she always has something on her plate that I know she’ll 100% eat and if she’s still hungry I offer an alternative option such as plain pasta and cheese which I know she’ll eat x
