Hi all just looking for advice. My little one is 7 months and formula fed. She has 1 bottle through the night,(8oz) she dose wake up hungry. Whats people’s advice for getting rid of this bottle, so she sleeps longer?
Has anyone ever put baby rice into the last bottle? I’ve heard lots on people putting rusk in a bottle also, I’ve looked online and it’s suggested not to do this but lots of people say it works.
Has anyone tried?

No advice apart from i would highly discourage you from putting baby rice into the bottle, it is such choking hazard and just no benefit to it at all!

What time is the last bottle? Could you possible give porridge or weetabix as a supper instead?
I did try both in the bottle and they did sleep a bit longer, but think off the spoon has the same effect too

Baby rice is a huge choking hazard in a bottle with 0 nutritional benefit, same for rusks.
If baby is waking for a night feed they need that milk, you shouldn’t be night weaning under 1 if baby is waking for milk.
7 months is still so little they need the calories to grow x

We like to give our son a small portion of ready brek now (he’s 9 months) but we started off with a small portion of baby rice alongside his bedtime bottle and it worked really great for us, please do not put the baby rice into the bottle itself ☺️

It's really not advised to wean off night feeds before 12 months old, especially if waking up hungry!. It can cause large nutritional deficits and affect sleep even more because of hunger. It's also not recommended to put anything in bottles to try and aid stopping night feeds because of choking hazard, and there is no scientific evidence to suggest these methods work. Word of mouth is how these rumours spread, and when these have been looked into, scientifically it's often other reasons such as natural development that has occurred at the same time, making it purely coincidental that the rice etc. was in the bottle at the same time. At about 10-11 months my baby has begun to eat more foods naturally as weaning is progressing and the night feed has gradually reduced, he maybe asks for it once a week or so, but usually now sleeps through the night. Wait for your baby to give you the right cues, if they are waking up hungry they need the bottle!
