Is it even possible for a partner to think you’re “in love” with your own and only sibling because we are genuinely really close? Ever since we started dating my now husband has always complained of how close I am with my brother that today he accused me of “being in love” with my brother. To me that was the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard. My father has a family business. Since we were little my father has had this business and now as adults me 35 and my brother 31 are mostly running it. To make things short my brother and I now run the business. Well, to my husband not only am I in love with my brother but what’s more important to me “allegedly” is spending time with family then my own husband and son. At this point I can only see a narcissist speaking to me. Not my husband nor my sons father but a narcissist. It’s hard to love a person this way. The only way this seems to work is me not speaking t my brother so my husband doesn’t see my brother as a threat. Just typing this makes me sick thinking it’s actually happening. Oh and keep in mind my brother and I grew up together in the business.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! This absolutely seems narcissistic and like he's trying to lay the groundwork to isolate you from family. 2 of my brothers live with me and my partner and my partner knew from the get go that they will always be a huge part of my life because I essentially raised them. Previous partners made comments about my brothers being around a lot and we didnt work out, but this partner loves my brothers like family and treats them as such. He's always willing to lend a listening ear or celebrate them and any accomplishments. If your husband is seriously concerned about your relationship with your little brother then that's a major red flag. You could try couples counseling to get to the bottom of these issues, but it also seems like he's never been happy about the relationship and never will be unless you cut your brother off, which is obviously not going to happen. I'm not going to tell you to leave him because that's your decision to make
We actually did couples therapy but it go to mentally overwhelming for me on how he kept up with this narrative of me preferring my brother/family over him and my son. Like just insane for my own mental well being I had to stop therapy. Just seems like it’s him and my son and nobody else. To where now work is also somehow an issue. Him directly saying it or not.

Well then it sounds like you have a choice to make for your life and future, and not an easy one. I'm sorry you're going through this and I truly wish you the best with all of this 🖤 you deserve some peace and to have a good relationship with any family member without it becoming a threat to your partner.
