Please help — colic / hours of crying every evening

My little girl is 9 weeks old and we’re really struggling with what seems to be colic. I’m hoping someone who’s been through similar can tell me what helped, or even just reassure me that it eventually gets better!

She’s generally much happier in the morning, but from around 5pm she can become really unsettled and cry/scream for hours. She squirms, tenses up and seems really uncomfortable. Sometimes it feels like absolutely nothing I do settles her.

Her daytime naps are also awful at the moment. She’ll often only sleep for around 10 minutes before waking back up, despite me trying everything to help her nap. I’m wondering if being overtired is making the evenings even worse.

She’s mainly breastfed, is gaining weight well and feeds plenty. I’ve tried burping, bicycle legs, keeping her upright, rocking, walking around, white noise, contact naps etc. Sometimes something works briefly, but nothing consistently helps.

Has anyone had a baby like this? Did anything genuinely make a difference — probiotics, changes to feeding, something for wind/reflux, changing your diet while breastfeeding, or working on naps?

And if your baby had really bad colic, when did you notice it starting to improve? I’m finding the hours of crying every evening really difficult and would love to hear from people who’ve come out the other side ❤️

My first LG had colic and she settled down crying around 10.5 weeks and my second LG also has had colic and she is just about improving now and she is 10w and 2 days, so hopefully you don’t have long left at all! Promise it gets better, second time round I’ve found it easier as I know it actually does end where first time round it was brutal not knowing if it would!
You have got this 💕 here if you want to message x

You are in the peek fussy stage, we started giving our little one smart strains fussy babies probiotics to our little one at around 3 weeks old which helped, we also gave her dentinox for colic prior to 1 month old, once she hit a month old we used gripe water as it worked much quicker than dentinox for trapped wind both we mixed in a small amount of breastmilk (30ml) in a bottle as it was the only way she would swallow it.

It does get better around 10 weeks as their tummies mature.

The only thing with both probiotics and dentinox is it takes time to build up, I think around a week or two. You may find seeing a baby osteopath in the mean time useful for an immediate relief.

Sounds exactly like mine. She would become unsettled at about 6-7pm and sometimes it would go on til 3am. She also had infant dyschezia and would scream every time she had to poop.
We tried everything (colief, infacol, gripe water, omeprazole, cutting out dairy, separating out hind milk and foremilk, freida windy gasspassers!), we were back and forward to the gp, unfortunately nothing made any difference, and from about 12 weeks she turned a corner and everything got a lot better.
Look up “purple crying”. Apparently it’s just a normal phase for some babies. Doesn’t make it any easier when you’re in the thick of it, but hang in there, it’s probably going to get a lot better with time!

My LG had colic and it was weeks of absolute hell but I’m here to say it does get better ❤️ she’s 4.5months now and we found it getting better and better from 12 weeks.

We think it was more over tiredness/ over stimulation that affected her most.

Unfortunately we didn’t find much that helped us (apart from trying to make sure she got some sleep and kept wake windows low stim).

I honestly thought it was going to be like this forever but thankfully we turned the corner and have a very happy baby now! Sending you so much love and strength and you WILL get through this. Here if you need a chat because I know how isolating this stage can be xxx

Am I being crazy?

Hi, so I just came on my period and yesterday afternoon I kicked my husband out for being too rough with my baby, he refused to see my point of view and instead made me feel bad, he’s done this so much.

He struggles to put her to sleep so he results to essentially forcing her to sleep, he picks her up roughly and plays with her too intensely for my liking she’s only three months so I don’t want to hurt her but he just doesn’t see it that way, whenever he puts her to sleep she screams but it’s different with me? I can’t tell whether I overreacted or not, I’m currently dealing with postpartum depression, anxiety and psychosis, I’m scared I overreacted.

Baby will only sleep on me, not in crib—help!

My baby settles instantly when he’s in my arms but cries or screams the moment I put him in his next to me crib. Has anyone found tips or gentle ways to help their baby sleep in the crib rather than just on them? Would love to hear what worked for others.

Do you and your partner have sex in the same room as your baby?

I recently saw a discussion about this on insta comments and it was a very split discussion so I was wondering how people here felt about it? (I just want to add I don’t want any judgement or negative comments to people who do or don’t decide to do this I just wanted to see how people feel)

In my own personal experience me and my partner do, our baby is 7 months old and sleeps independently in his own crib but he’s still in our room we never do it while he’s awake, under the covers in the dark so nothing is visible and if he wakes up we stop immediately for us personally doing it “when the baby isn’t around” just isn’t a possibility and we literally never have time to ourselves otherwise I will say we have massively toned down how we’re intimate with each other so we arent loud or doing crazy 50 shades style like we would pre baby and as soon as he’s older or old enough to like pull himself up and actually see what’s happening it’ll stop I don’t want it to be a situation where he ever sees us doing the act but for now I feel like he’s still unaware enough that it’s okay and like I said it’s only ever when he’s dead asleep sometimes I do feel a bit weird about it and it kills the mood so we stop.

Struggling

Hey ladies I feel like the worst mother in the world. I’m really struggling this month due to my daughter’s birthday last month and costly back and forth to court over child arrangement and I’m literally broke. Is anyone able to help me with formula nappies wipes and some snacks for the kids please? I don’t normally ask but it’s my last resort.

I’ve asked in my local free sites but heard nothing and there’s a waiting list on our food bank

So sorry to ask everyone. Xxx

Are they gaslighting me?

I’m 10 weeks having my first baby and I’m really not loving pregnancy at all. I’ve never been this exhausted in my life and still have to work full time. And my sisters, mum and partner have all said similar things like ‘you’re only a couple months’ and ‘it’s still early it gets worse’ trying to essentially say it can’t be that bad yet because you’re not pregnant enough. And I’ve never felt more alone in anything in my life. My partner is so supportive but when it comes to this he just cannot understand what I’m going through. So I have no one to vent to without feeling judged. When I talk about my pregnancy I see my sisters eyes all glaze over like ‘here she goes again’ as if it’s not the biggest change in my entire life. Just feel lonely.

Convertible Car Seat

Moms, when did you ditch the infant car seat and switch to a convertible car seat? And which convertible car seat did you go with? Would love to hear what you liked (or didn’t like) about yours! 😊
