This is the forth time we have tried potty training my daughter. Before she would hold her wee all day until she was beside herself crying and pacing that she would wee herself so we paused it. 6 months later and we have tried again. She wears knickers all day and can tell me when she needs a wee and poo but refuses to go on the potty or toilet, she asks for her nappy. I don’t know what to do! I’ve tried everything. Health visitor said just to take the nappies away and tell her that’s it they’re gone now, but if she does that she will go back to holding it again.

Personally I feel it's a skill we need to teach. It's a messy, difficult and sometimes gross skill though. How long have your attempts lasted? I've only potty trained my son and it was stressful, I was willing to throw in the towel after 3 days, luckily my partner insisted we push through and we never looked back. We got rid of 'nappies' and only had 'nighttime pants' because wee can 'sneak out'.
Not sure of your question, but I agree with the health visitor.
