Has anyone else found their partner took a step back after the first few weeks?
My other half was brilliant at first; cooking, cleaning and helping with baby. But since going back to work, we’re back to 50/50 with cooking, cleaning and the dog, while I’m looking after our EBF baby 24/7. He’s gone back to all his hobbies, while I have to ask him to watch her just so I can shower.
She’s 6 weeks old and I’ve only been out alone 4 times, all for less than an hour and usually to walk the dog or get something for her. Next week he’s out 5/7 days for hobbies and seeing friends.
I don’t want to be controlling or stop him having a life, but I also don’t feel like I should have to ask him to parent or give me a break. I want him to *want* to do it without being told. Has anyone else been through this?

I hear ya! Mine sits on his ass and watches some crappy gta role play on TV...even within the first week of coming out of hospital he would wake me up and ask whats for dinner! Men have it so easy! While we mother and then do the housework and they wonder why we detach from them

If you’re expected to be 50/50 on cooking, cleaning, etc then it shots also be 50/50 on time for hobbies and friends. He is just as much her parent as you are. Even if he can’t feed her he can and should still make sure you are taken care of. Our LO is 2 months old and my husband has always taken over an hour every day to have cigars outside our apartment while I’m on baby duty. It was just yesterday that I finally asked to be given the same amount of time to be alone. Don’t be afraid to advocate for what you need.

Im definitely feeling your pain on this one. Mine is the same way always working an then when hes home hes not actually wanting to spend time with me or the baby. He doesnt really do anything or help. I too have to ask him to hold her whilst I shower or ask him to do something when he should ask do I need help. He too was helpful during his paternity leave but then after that its been like im a solo parent

If only men could go through what we went through and have to breastfeed them too! Would like to see how they deal with it lol
