Poor daddy!

Anyone else having/had this issue ??

I'm a first time mum and exclusively breastfeeding our daughter
She's only just under 2 weeks old, but almost every time she's held by dad she screams the place down and won't settle.

Unfortunately due to being on deployment during the pregnancy he was unable to do the whole talking to the bump thing and now I feel so bad for him.

He's acting fine but I know deep down it's absolutely killing him that she won't settle with him

Anyone had this issue or have any suggestions?

Get him a baby carrier and have him take her on a little walk. fresh air does wonders for babies and the 1-1 will help too plus baby carriers are amazing for that contact.
Give him a top of yours to wear that has your scent on it so baby can smell you in his arms.
For first few weeks our baby would only settle when being bounced on the yoga ball

This is really normal, baby doesn’t even realise they’re not part of you for months yet!

Dads come into their own in toddlerhood imo, his time is coming ❤️

Sounds silly but skin to skin. Baby should get skin to skin as often as possible 😌 it's beneficial they find even past 6mo of age. She will know it's her dad, she will gain a connection. What also helped me was just giving our 2 to him no matter what & play music in the background. Let them bond. Are they gonna scream? Probably. But 🤣 they will bond. My oldest was the worst lol poor girl just wanted me & I ebf both. I do think thats a large part of it. So if you can pump eventually & store, it will help so dad can do a feed. Don't stress it. It will happen. They will love eachother 😆🥰 but both my girls wanted me only & I just had to keep breaking that daily giving him time with them no matter what. If that helps

We had this. Not so bad as screaming (except one evening I was going to have a nice relaxing bath 😑) but started not settling as long with him.
I don't know how up for pumping you are, but I started to pump while feeding in the early hours (usually around 4/5am, nurse one side and pump the other at the samd time) and then her Dad would feed her that bottle in the morning when we woke up. Gave them some cuddles/skin to skin/bonding time and I could get up and ready for the day. It definitely helped and they would have a little chat/play too if she finished the bottle quick while I was still getting ready.

I am not making it up

So my daughter is now two months old and about 14days old, she was five weeks early, so any way I was told by my last HV appointment she should start smiling, I was like ok but in her own time, I know babies will do things in their own time, last week I began to notice her trying to smile and yesterday I leaned over her cot to give her a morning kis and she smiled at me and fell asleep, when she was a awake she smiled at me while I dressed her, this morning she smiled again and tired to get photos, these are her smiling aren't they, I was letting her do in her own time but I didn't know if premature babies have some catching up to do because they are premature but please tell the truth is she starting to smile

Bedtime ruined 🫶🏼

Anyone else just had their already difficult because of the heat, bedtime RUINED because of those government alerts 🥴🫪

Failed the transfer & had 45 minutes of screaming, then finally dozing off & those alerts go off! Startled the baby & we are back to screaming again 🫠🫠🫠

Do children with noise sensitivity always have ASD or can it be a phase?

She’s 3 doesn’t like loud noises, or repetitive noises. Easily startled to the point where me and my husband can’t shout for each other in separate rooms. Wont wear headphones because she doesn’t like them. Doesn’t like when people say bye also. Currently waiting on a referral for a hearing test.

Feeding during heatwave

Wanting other mums opinions…
I have a 3 month old baby which I formula feed.
Between feeds would you offer your baby a few sips of water inbetween as we’re in a heatwave, or do you just offer more feeds?
At the moment as it’s so hot I don’t want him to get dehydrated so I fed every 3 hours. Is that enough or not?

Car

My baby is 10 weeks old and has pretty much from 2 weeks old hated the car. Im genuinely at the point of considering buying another car seat to see if that makes a difference. People who have had the same experience, what did you do? She screams no matter the length of the journey and is so distracting.

People are telling me to bottle feed!!!!

I’m exclusively breastfeeding and I keep getting comments saying I should express my milk and bottle feed. I really don’t want to. Does anybody else find people comment on this?
