I’m a stay at home Mum, my partner works 06:00 - 18:00 most days. Whilst he is at work I’m trying to manage the house, look after my toddler the best I can, take her to groups etc. I feel like my responsibilities include house management and my toddler, and sometimes dinner does not fit into this due to time restraints and I will give my toddler a ‘snack plate’ type meal. He feels like dinner is an expectation and part of my ‘role’ as a stay at home parent.
He will typically cook on Saturday, but every other day it is deemed as my responsibility. Thoughts on this?

I cook for my family every single day I complain about sometimes but I still get it done why would you want your husband to come home with nothing to eat also I do have 3 kids to feed and I’m 35 weeks pregnant so it’s always going to be food made or I’m picking up takeout constantly

I think it completely depends on the situation and set up, because personally it is something I do because I cook one meal for the four of us and the kids just eat earlier than me and my husband. But also some nights we eat left overs, so it completely depends.
If you feel like it’s not something you can fit into your day, then that’s a conversation to have with your husband so you can come up with a solution together.

I cook everyday and leave a plate for my husband to heat up, or if a takeaway make sure I've ordered a pizza for him too.
There are rare occasions I don't cook for him and I'll let him know so he can fend for himself which he's fine with I just feel bad if he comes home close to midnight then has to cook himself dinner

I try to cook a meal we can all eat, so there will always be something for my husband too. I’d rather he came with food ready to go as then we can spend more time together instead of him then having to spend time cooking.

We need to normalize working together I think cooking for your significant other is a part of being a good partner, but it should go both ways because raising a child is just as much of a job I work from home & about to raise my first baby. I already know I’m going to stay up all night with the baby plus clean the house, make sure our business are running smoothly and expected to cook dinner every single day ? It shouldn’t be the case, there are many times where my husband goes out and buys me dinner or cooks with me. It’s always much more fun that way it should never be expected, but appreciated.

I cook for my oh except weekends. He used to have a job where he came home around 7-8 where he was no longer hungry so didn’t cook for him then. I would however expect him to watch the toddler if I was cooking or vise versa. My oh isn’t a great cook anyway.

I think it would be nice for you to all sit down together to eat meals, eating as a family is important and helps children keep an open relationship with their parents
