I don’t understand my 2-year-old son’s behavior (he’s two years old, give or take three days)

Hello, everyone,

He’s been in the care of a child care provider since late May, who took time off in July (during which he was looked after by my family and occasionally at daycare). Before her time off, things weren’t too bad. he was just still a bit reserved.

But since he went back to the child care provider three weeks ago, it’s been really tough. My son gets frustrated very quickly, gives orders (rather aggressively) to the dog and to me, and says “MINE” for everything. I’m forced to constantly scold him for everything and nothing (and raise my voice because once he’s in the middle of a “tantrum,” he doesn’t listen) whether it’s in the evening or even more and more on the weekends.

Before, like so many children, he would also express his refusal (and I’d have to raise my voice too), but much less frequently and with much less intensity. It wasn’t to the point where he’d start flailing his arms in the air.

A little girl the same age, who’s cared for by the same child care provider, acts the same wayw but even more so, and has been doing so at home for several months now (so she’s had quite a few “punishments,” “naughty moments,” and “time-outs”).

Could my little one’s recent and changing behavior be due to the fact that he’s copying his classmate? Or does he not feel comfortable there? Is this just a normal phase of the “terrible twos”?

My patience is wearing thin, especially since he still isn’t sleeping through the night (he wakes up 2 or 3 times, for varying lengths of time), the nighttime weaning that had been going well for a month and a half has fallen apart, and the atmosphere at work is tense.

Sorry for the long post, I’ve got a lot on my mind...

Thanks, and have a great weekend

Sounds like terrible 2s although I hate the saying it practically is what it states most start to push boundaries a bit more and emotions seem heightened they need to learn to regulate and communicate their needs, wants and feelings and are unsure how to do it. They also go through regression stages. Yeah he could also be copying speak to the childcare provider put boundaries and strategies to deal with behaviour in place that you can both stick to you need to work together or things become confusing if there's rules in one place but not another. Also reward positive behaviour say things like good sitting at the table, that's amazing walking and listening in the shop. Give stickers for good behaviour too if he shares a toy with you promote that that's made me really happy you shared with me ill share my stickers you can choose for been a good sharer x

Do some research on tantrums, you may be doing the opposite what's needed. Emma Hubbard bideos on youtube are short and sweet.

Does your husband call your children names?

My husband gets frustrated with our toddler and doesn't cope well. I am 4 weeks postpartum after a c section and I've had a traumatic experience. He's been calling my toddler a little f*****r and a c**t. Does your other half do the same when frustrated? I feel so offended as I've gave birth to his kids and I'm the mother of his kids.

Help!

So my 10 month old has been on solids since she was 4 months and has eaten everything we have given her she does have her favourites tho so as she’s grown we have stuck to the things we know she loves but now for the past week she has been mostly refusing to eat especially at breakfast time and now it is morning I tried her with porridge which she loves but she was gagging and spitting it out so I took it away and tried her with some yogurt she spat that out so I ended up giving her some fruit biscuits and she was gagging at the sight of it what could this be down too?

I am going to call the doctors as soon as they open but I’m so confused!

I need opinions! Because I’m so mad

So my husband took the kids to his parents house so I could take a shower, eat a meal without having to stop every 5 seconds and so I could get some cleaning done, he stayed there for a couple hours and I txt him asking hey I just showered can your mom watch the kids for 15 minutes and you can come home for a quickie? He said yes he came home, I even put lingerie on and everything he’s on the bed I get on top of him before I can even kiss him he starts complaining how my foot touched him and my feet are cold, then complained my hands were like doctor hands because how cold they are so
I said ok I’m gonna just get dressed because I’m not gonna do this when you literally just want to complain when I touch you. He literally got mad and started ranting then left to go get the kids. Am I wrong for not being in the mood anymore when he literally was doing nothing but complaining about how cold I felt on him????? And just saying I have anemia and he keeps our bedroom at 70 degrees or lower with 3 fans on!

I don’t know what the point of this post is….. word vomit

Sorry I don’t even really know what the point of this post is but I just really need to let it out to people who don’t know me 🙃
Every time something goes wrong for my husband, or he can’t find something it’s automatically ‘my fault’ to the point he’ll even call me at work to tell me it’s my fault and then takes his frustration out verbally on me.
At least 3 times a week he goes out with his mates, I tell him he needs to be up at X time because I have to get me and our son ready etc and without fail that never happens and of course it’s my fault again. When he’s hungover he locks himself in the spare room and won’t come out until I cook dinner. If I even ask for help with our son because I need to do washing, tidying, general household stuff he gets annoyed and short with our son.
It’s got to the point we don’t even have family days out anymore because he’s too hungover or can’t be bothered and I’m fed up of making excuses for him when he doesn’t show up at family events.
Sorry I know this makes zero sense and just word vomit but I needed to let it out somewhere 😭😭

Just curious how you coped when having a second

This is going to sound odd and probably laughable to some people. That’s okay.

How do you cope going from 1 to 2?

We’ve just babysat our 3 year old niece for the first time overnight with our 2 year old and my gosh we’re exhausted 😂

From refusing to go to bed, to pushing each other, to throwing things at each others heads, to multiple wakings through the night, refusing food and refusing to drink. How do you cope?

It’s really put me off having another, especially as I’ve learned how much my daughter hates sharing and gets possessive over me 😬

I would love thoughts on this please..

My husband texted me this.

How I believe things should go. A problem is brought up. You tell me your concerns, I consider your concerns, then I tell you my concerns and make a decision from there and whatever decision I make or instructions I give you roll with it not only because as the leader I have the final say but because you trust me and my leadership. It shouldn't be an argument because you don't agree with the leader's decision.

If you tell me you want McDonald's and I tell you no it's unhealthy. I shouldn't have to defend my decision. I feel you should simply reply Ok. The reality is you understand I am going to make sure you eat.
