Apologies, I’m sure this question gets asked a lot…
We are contemplating going abroad on holiday in September, our little boy will turn three months at the end of next week.
Things that might be helpful to know:
- I express and he’s bottle fed
- We would go somewhere like Spain
- We would fly
Our worries are that he could cry the entire flight, and he could be difficult to settle at times whilst we’re away and we don’t have the usual aids (rocker etc).
However we’ve been told this is the golden age to take a baby as they aren’t yet moving around and still nap quite a bit. So would we be silly not to take the opportunity?
Or do we just holiday in the UK? It can be as expensive or more expensive than going abroad but we don’t have to worry about the plane and could take things like the rocker with us.
I know no one can really answer this for us but would be interested in your thoughts and experiences! TIA x
TLDR: do we take our 3 month abroad, worried he’ll cry on plane and be hard to settle during holiday.

We went to Egypt when our baby was 4 months old and it was great! It’s much easier at the age they’re not mobile yet 😅 plane trip isn’t usually an issue with babies this young, as all the movement and the noise the plane makes is quite soothing for them.

The first holiday we went with our daughter was at 3 months turning 4 and it was amazing!! She slept throughout the entire flight and only woke up once to feed.
I would just recommend feeding at take off and landing to help his ears not pop and maybe some of his favourite small toys or something to distract him if he decides to stay awake. Express prior to the flight if you can! If you can play with him as much as you can to keep him up prior the flight and that way he’ll most likely sleep through it, especially since Spain isn’t too far.
But honestly I wouldn’t worry too much. You got this!!! This is the perfect time to go on holiday with your little one :)
