4lb baby

I’m due to have a planned c-section at 38+1 due to intrauterine growth restriction (I’ve had many complications with my placenta but luckily he’s managed to hold on in there until 38 weeks!) however my placenta is worsening and he’s dropped to the 2nd centile and his weight is currently only 3.9lb (I know their measurements can be off).

I’m wanting to know if anyone has had a teeny tiny but full term baby and whether they needed extra support in the hospital? My understanding is he may need help with his feeding & body temp - I’m hoping not breathing. I’ve been warned he may need an NG tube. I’m very open to all of this support but would just like to hear if other people have been in this position and if so, what did it look like for you & how long were you in the hospital for? 👶🏼

Mine is slightly different. I had IUGR with my first, she was a c section at 37 weeks and was a bit bigger at 4lbs 8oz. She was taken straight to NICU because she did need breathing support. However, she was only on it (CPAP) for 24 hours. She also needed a few days of light therapy for jaundice.

They found that my daughter actually had a cleft palate, so for her feeding was difficult (it meant she couldn't suck) and she did have to be ng fed and introduced to special bottles. We were in NICU for 10 days, but the vast majority of that was for feeding.

I would say comparatively to other babies in NICU ours was a whopper! Had she not had the cleft palate I think we would have been out of there in a few days. I also found the NICU staff to be actual angels, and yes, it's a horrible situation, but they were really fantastic and taught us a lot about caring for a baby (they know allllll the tricks)!

I had a semi planned semi emergency c section which was booked after my 34 weeks scan. Twin A supposedly didn’t grown since the scan a week prior and Twin B had less blood flow from the placenta since a few weeks but always positive. I went in at 34+4 weeks. Babies were 4lbs and 4,9lbs. One needed breathing support only for 5 minutes then was fine the other didn’t need it at all. They did have feeding tubes as they really struggled to eat. That was painful to watch, they put it in 3/4 times because the girls kept tugging on it, having it move out of place. We spent 9 days in hospital I was there with them the whole time, no NICU time. Both had jaundice, one treated by UV light one ended up with prolonged jaundice which went away itself after we left the hospital. Girls dropped in weight after 3 days. 3.5 lbs and 3.97 lbs. So very very tiny. I suggest getting size 0 diapers as we only had size 1 and that was massive on them.

It was a very stressful time for me…

My LO was small for gestational age, was born at 39 weeks after induction (should have been sooner but hospital errors…), and was born in the 1st percentile at 5lbs. She was fine at birth, no concerns just very small! Was discharged 5 days later with no NICU

Just for laughs🤣🤣

Why do people name their children after Times and Seasons they weren’t even born in? I met a ‘Summer’ today that was born in the Winter(December). A while back, I met an Autumn that wasn’t even born in that season. My cousin’s name is Augusta and she was born in May. Don’t get me started on ‘April’s’🤣Is it just because they like the name? Do you or do you know someone that did this? Please share for laughs. What was the name and their story behind it🤣❤️

Not much movement

I’m 27 weeks tomorrow and I’ve not felt much movement since Sunday. I have an anterior placenta so I just keep thinking he’s tucked himself back up behind my placenta again and I’ve just been incredibly lucky the last two weeks to have felt him kicking me and tapping me back after I prod him and playing little games.
The only way I can explain the movements is like muscle spasms a few times a day and then l have idea how to explain the pressure or sensation just above my pubic bone.
Do you think I should go to the hospital?
