I'm in the last few weeks of pregnancy and have been struggling with really bad one-sided hip/glute pain at night for months. I'm at the point where I'm desperate to know if there's anything I've missed!
It's mainly when I'm lying down at night and it doesn't matter which side I sleep on. When it's bad, sitting doesn't help either. Getting up and walking around is about the only thing that eases it, although even that doesn't always fully relieve it. It's massively affecting my sleep.
So far I've tried:
- Pregnancy pillow/pillows between my legs
- Mattress topper
- Hot water bottle
- Ice packs
- Warm baths before bed
- Massage
- Spiky massage ball
- Various stretches/exercises
- Paracetamol
- Physio
- Osteopathy
- Acupuncture
Physio gave me a little relief for a couple of days after each session but never stopped the pain completely. My first osteopathy appointment made a really noticeable difference for about a week, but unfortunately the second appointment hasn't had the same effect and the pain is back to how it was originally.
I'm continuing with the osteopath, but I'm desperate for some sleep and wondering if there's anything else I haven't thought of. Has anyone experienced anything similar, particularly pain that's worse when lying/sitting but improves when you get up and move around? What helped you get through the nights? ❤️

The only thing that’s helped me is a foam roller on my bum cheek 😂😂 I get my husband to do it before bed as I’m in agony constantly with it and he does my legs too. It’s driving me crazy!

Aw, I really feel your pain. I struggled massively with this during my pregnancy. I tried all the things you did too. The only thing I found that made some difference was doing strength training for my glute, like clams. I noticed mine was worse if I’d walked a lot that day too. Mine unfortunately didn’t get better until I had my baby and I still have to keep up the strength training and massage but it still does affect me. Sorry to hear you’re going through this. Hang in there!

Acupuncture!!!! Also fantastic for birth prep (scientifically proven)

I’ve had a similar issue since 16 weeks and have been to the osteopath weekly since 24w.
Mines my piriformis muscle and nothing is giving complete relief so I’m waking every 30-90 mins overnight and rolling over into the opposite side but using a tennis ball and rolling it up and down the wall with my bum is slightly better than doing nothing!
Edit: I also use a pregnancy support band all day long which is helping!
I’m 31 weeks and I think I’ve made my mind up about a vbac.
I think I’ll book in an elective for 41 weeks (as late as they’ll let me) and see if labour naturally happens before then.
I’m hoping this is the right decision but it’s difficult to differentiate fear over intuition.
Has anyone got any advice on having a vbac? How to physically prepare beforehand and in the hospital?
Just for context, there will be just under 16 months between my first and this baby

I’m 34 + 2 and I noticed when I was just in the shower that I’m starting to leak colostrum. Is it too soon to start collecting?

So I’ve got a c section booked for Thursday 27th but if you go in for reduced movements before hands … do they bring your c section forward? Has anyone been in this situation? I’m 38 weeks tomorrow ( Sunday ) xx

People talk about an energy boost and feeling more yourself in the 2nd trimester. I’m 14w3days today and still feel as tired, low and not myself as I did in the first trimester!! Did other people find this and when did you start feeling better?? xxx

I’m 40+5 today and a VBAC and feeling the pressure from midwives to have intervention- anyone else waiting it out? Or any recent positive overdue experiences?
