Toddler sleep struggles and pregnant!

Hi guys; I don’t know what I’m looking for exactly. Maybe reassurance or just solidarity but my toddler hasn’t always been the best sleeper but he’s been sleeping through the night up until recently where he wakes up multiple times and even stays up for an hour or 2. I put it down to early sleep regression but now that I’m pregnant it’s getting more difficult to meet his sleep routine needs as he wants to be held and sang to sleep and then transferred. I am now getting extremely anxious as we’ll have a new born soon so i was really hoping for him to self settle by now. Ferber method is not an option for us as both of us can’t bare it but I tried pick up put down but it’s always a screaming match and fighting sleep which physically and mentally exhausted me so not even sure if it’s worth it. If I wasn’t pregnant honestly i don’t mind holding to sleep but it’s getting physically difficult. I’m scared of when baby comes and having 2 children who are screaming for my comfort while living in a 1 bedroom flat. Just so anxious and don’t know what to do with teaching him to self settle. Anything will help!

Split nights can often mean you're aiming for too much sleep. What are his nap and bedtime timings?

I feel you, it’s so hard being pregnant/newly postpartum with a toddler. I had my second 6 weeks ago.
My son started having separation anxiety and sleep trouble after I came home from the hospital. I physically couldn’t pick him up as I had a c section. One night after my husband trying to settle him for 2 hours I went in to his room and sat beside his cot, I didn’t say much only “mummy’s here” in a really soft voice if he called out for me and just stayed with him til he fell asleep. We’ve been doing that method since then whenever our toddler has problems sleeping. It seems to work as often when we pick him up it just leads to more screaming whenever we try to put him down again… maybe it might work for you???

Do you have a partner who can help? We had 2 under 2 (they are 3.5 and 22 months now) and my husband coslept with my eldest or we brought him into our bed when he didn't settle. I know it's not for everyone but cosleeping was what gave everyone the most amount of sleep in that season.

Sleep

I’m at my wits end. My 6 month old is waking every 1-2 hours needing a feed (breastfed and refuses a bottle) and my toddler is waking for hours on end in the night and will only settle for me. I’m getting to the point of having 2-3 hours of broken sleep a night for the past week and I’m really really struggling. My husband says it’s got to the point we just need to let them both cry but my baby is only 6 months and my toddler is just waking the baby up anyway crying and will just run around upstairs . He won’t settle for dad at all. We don’t have a village and there’s nobody who can help me out during the day to look after them to let me sleep. I just don’t know what to do. I’ve tried just letting my toddler come into our bed but he just lies awake and says he wants to go back to his bed. Tried sleeping in his toddler bed but then the baby wakes for a feed. My husband also hates this as he thinks it’s creating a bad sleep association and making the problem worse long term. Really don’t want to co sleep with 6 month old as we both move around lots in our sleep and I would be too scared . Does anyone have any advice that isn’t co sleeping?

Sleeping places

Does anyone else's baby sleep better in their bed then the bassinet or crib? I swear my 8 week baby girl instantly falls asleep and even stays sleeping longer when shes in my bed then her own.

Benefits of breastfeeding beyond 1 year old?

As they get older, is it more about emotional attachment rather than the benefits of the breastmilk itself? I ask, as when a child has a varied diet, I wonder if breastfeeding is still necessary? Or, if there is a benefit to a child receiving breastmilk beyond a year old, is it necessary to be from the breast rather than it being expressed?

Please tell me I’m not alone 😭😭

Hi! I’m a FTM and lately have been experiencing derealization/depersonalization. Some days it’s so bad other days not so much, I love my baby she’s my entire world and I’m so scared I’m losing my mind. I also have anxiety and most days hate to be alone because it just feels so heavy at home so I tend to leave the house a lot with her. Does anyone know why this happens and ways to help ? I’m meeting with a therapist in a couple weeks :( I just want to feel better.

Sleep regression or developmental leap?

My 3 month (14 week) old formula fed baby has slept through the night consistently since about 8 weeks. The last 3 nights he has woken between 2-3am and seems hungry. I’ve tried rocking him and soothing back to sleep and he does temporarily settle but then wakes up again within a few minutes. So I succumb and make him a bottle and he is draining it every time so he obviously is hungry but isn’t feeding any less during the day than he was previously and is still having a big nighttime bottle, I haven’t changed any part of his bedtime routine etc.

We have just got back from a weeks holiday, but even then we were really hot on sticking to his usual routine, so as not to disturb his usual pattern. His temperature seems fine (not too hot or cold), he is sleeping same amount during the day, doesn’t seem poorly etc. So nothing has changed, with the exception of my husband has started randomly snoring again after months of not snoring (used to be really bad, then he lost a lot of weight and it stopped) which is waking me up and I’m finding really quite irritating 🫠😅 but I’m not sure it’s bothering the baby (although I can’t tell as he’s awake too) so unsure what it could be.

Should I just put it down to a developmental leap, sleep regression or growth spurt at this point? Either way, I’m hoping it settles again as I’m solo parenting for 9 days soon whilst hubby is away for work. Which should make for a more peaceful nights sleep but no extra pair of hands to help a sleep deprived mumma 🙈
