Blood monitor

Has anyone else been sick of the glucose test and now got to have a blood monitor. How was it for everyone?

I had the gtt on Monday, got a call yesterday to come back to the hospital today to pick up the glucose monitor. I'm nervous! This is my 3rd pregnancy but my 1st time with gdm :-(

Second pregnancy, first time GDM.. have been monitoring for a week, and was started on metformins for the remainder of pregnancy.. it’s not been too bad so far, and the upside of all this - extra chances to see baby!

Biggest tip, don’t do your index finger, it will hurt, you don’t realise how much you use that one finger for until you’ve stabbed it, middle, ring and pinky, and sides are less painful than centre

Accidentally ate Brie!

Hi everyone!
I'm about 8-9 weeks pregnant, and have just eaten a Brie, bacon and chilli chutney sandwich from Sainsburys, and I completely forgot until I finished eating it and looked on the packaging where it says "expectant mothers should avoid eating this cheese" 😩
Will I (and 👶🏻) be okay??
Anyone else had the same experience and everything's been absolutely fine?

Glucose Test

I’m so nervous to do it. I have been up most of the night with anxiety. Can I just prick myself and change my diet ? Asking for advice please.

Prenatal anxiety

Hello, I'm 31 weeks pregnant and my anxiety is alot at the moment. I've always suffered with anxiety but haven't taken medication, besides the occasional beta blocker for stressful work events or my driving test. My anxiety is mostly about when the baby is here, will I be anxious driving? Will I fall when holding baby? Will I feel anxiety everyday holding baby. Did anyone have bad anxiety during pregnancy? And then were you okay when baby was here? I can't let myself be excited about the baby being here, as I only think negatively. I'm also 40 and think if I was pregnant when I was younger I would be less anxious. I am waiting to be referred to a therapist, but it's taking sometime.

High risk - booking appt

Feeling really bummed out that despite the intense exercise/diet, physio, whatever other hoop I needed to jump through, I have been labelled high risk for my second pregnancy yesterday at my booking appointment.

I understand it is to do with the 3b tear I had in pregnancy #1 but I just feel so depressed by it. I was told at debrief and initially after birth this wasn't a risk factor and I wouldn't instantly be high risk because of it and now I am.

Feel like the high risk label on my notes is like a shame sticker and worry instigator all in one. At debrief I was told I could have elective C section or vaginal birth, but as soon as that label went down, I can't stop worrying about making the wrong decision. In my head, I choose vaginal and I'll have a third or fourth degree tear with incontinence complications. If I choose elective, I'll have diactis recti and other complications. Feel like whatever I do, I can't win.

Took all the joy out of being newly pregnant again. Last time I was so anxious, I really wanted to enjoy the experience as much as I could with this being my last and I just feel so disheartened.

Is anyone else high risk? How are you managing it? X
