Sleep routine

When is a good time to get my baby into a sleep routine? Any tips to help a baby fall asleep at night.
He’s only 5 weeks old so I know he’s a bit too young for it but need some tips for setting a routine. Because he’s more alert now he’s proper fighting sleep when he’s tired.
He’s only just gone down now (11.30) but isn’t asleep (Is trying to though). Sometimes he doesn’t sleep until half 1 in the morning.
He’ll fall asleep feeding but then wake when I put him down. Once he is asleep he is good at going back off when he wakes for a feed in the night.
I keep all the rooms dim in the evening, use rocking/swaying and he still won’t go down. I’ve tried white noise and the only person it’s sent to sleep is my partner 🙃

I have to hold mine after feeding before putting her down to avoid waking her, means she's in a deep sleep then! I also warm the mattress with a heated blanket to avoid startling her

Infants are good at pattern recognition. We don’t do sleep onesies during the day only at night for bedtime. We use a different swaddle (zip up ones) for bed and swaddle with a blanket in the day. For day time naps lots of natural light and our regular daily noise. Night time sleep is very dark low noise and sound machine. We don’t do white noise but one that sounds like ocean waves. Maybe do a walk during the day to help encourage carcadian rhythm. I’m breastfeeding, but occasionally we’ll do a formula bottle (I’ll pump for that feed) and baby sleeps 4-5hr stretch (baby is 4 weeks old). Try to be flexible with a bedtime for now. Ex: last wake window 7-9pm then change diaper, get into pajamas, feed, lights off, noise low and off to sleep. Simple yet effective and helps baby recognize the patterns. Mornings we’ll change diaper, feed, and get into daytime clothes. With our daughter we didn’t establish a solid routine until 8-10 weeks which included a bath every night.

Also, a pacifier helps sooth our baby to sleep if they are restless after a full feed and fighting their rest

My boy is 7 weeks and since 2 weeks old he has a bath-> bottle (in a dark room with only red light) and he understands now what is happening.

He has been fighting it more last week and some of this week, so I now do bath later around 9pm and he is down by 10pm until around 4am.

Hopefully will be earlier bed time once we are over the witching hour and the 6-8 weeks growth spur.

Create a routine, they thrive of it!

What do you do during your toddlers tantrums?

My little boy had what I would say was his first tantrum yesterday, and it was over putting his shoes and coat on (i’m sure they’ll be many more to come) but i just continued to put his coat and shoes on an getting his brother ready through the kicking screaming and crying. Is that okay? As soon as we got outside he was fine

I don't feel supported by my support system

Family dynamic has always been questionable. Very traumatic childhood, super dysfunctional- just experienced things no child or young person should experience and it did affect the way I interact with my family (mum and two sisters)

Anyways my family adore my son (only grandchild), love looking after him but I feel like an afterthought. I feel so selfish for it because the baby matters way more than I do but no one ever really asks me what I need. No one comes over anymore, I always have to go to them with him. I feel constantly criticised for my choices in terms of how I feed him, bedtimes etc - sometimes it doesn't feel like he's my child and honestly ive thought about ending my life and him just being with them would be better for him. Have been struggling with PND amongst other things and was told that I'd damage him emotionally which I don't wanna do which is the reason for these thoughts. I've been called manipulative and abusive for literally just struggling and having a mental health crisis and selfish when I've tried so say that my baby is mine.

I just don't really enjoy being around them anymore but don't have any other help

In the past when I've tried to talk about things that have hurt my feelings (especially around the birth of my son) I've been made to feel like the bad guy and my mum is very avoidant with feelings so I'm not allowed to talk about it and my son is 1 now and I just feel so heavy and resentful

Anyone else on the night shift? 😴

Lying on the sofa with one of my girlies asleep on my chest after feeding. She’s 6 weeks and is being so fussy at the moment, crying a lot, so I don’t dare move while she’s settled 😅
