What do you do during your toddlers tantrums?

Explain what you're doing, toddlers often have tantrums due to lack of choice.
They understand language before they can speak it.
So you explain he needs to put his shoes and coat on to be able to go out abd play etc
Or which what should we put on first? Shoes, or coat? Etc

Depends what kind of tantrum tbh. My son used to have very extreme tantrums where he was at risk of hurting himself (flinging himself, purposefully banging his head on walls/floor), smashing furniture, breaking things etc. In those scenarios he was unreachable and we couldn't comfort him or touch him so I would just make sure he was safe and sit near him till it passed.
If it was a more 'regular' tantrum, if it's a non negotiable like getting dressed, brushing teeth, a safety thing, or leaving the house cause we have to then I would carry on doing it. I agree with the above giving choices or making it a bit of a game, if they're open to it, can help sometimes. We sometimes do who can put their shoes on quickest, do you want x/y jumper on today, tidy away x first then we can do *preferred activity*
But sometimes (or often if you're in THAT stage 😅) you just have to push through the screaming and kicking and get it done so don't worry!
