Real Life Hospital Bag Needs

Hey lovely moms! I’m 36 weeks now and I’m trying to get everything together 😂

What is ACTUALLY needed in the hospital bag? I’m sick of seeing all the social media influencers and what they bring.

I imagine clothes for a few days, unsure if i bring pads and such? Also, I plan on exclusively pumping so do I bring my breast pump with me? I see some people do, and some people don’t.

Any advice helps, thank you ♡

My second time I just brought
Always
pjs that opened in the front
Headphones
Water bottle
Gatorade
Blanket
Pillow
Clothes to go home
Toiletries
Charger
Laptop to register all things needed after baby is born (forgot a lot doing it at home with my first)
Baby girl, I just brought her going home outfit and diapers. The number of times your baby gets checked it's first 24hr... I was so happy I packed a sleeper with elastic bottom with my first and he didn't have any complications at birth.
Change for vending and parking
List of medications

My hospital provided pads but definitely bring your own disposable underwear. The ones from store are sooo much more secure and comfortable. My hospital also provided a pump but bringing your pump will help you get comfortable with your own. The only thing I regretted not bringing was my warming blanket. It gets cold in there so bring your own blankets

I'd bring your own adult diapers/pads and your own bath towel to shower. The hospital I was at had super rough options for both.

They did provide me with a pump to use and take home though, but I don't know if that's standard.

Aside from that maybe some entertainment options, like music or some shows downloaded to watch, and definitely some labor coping tools

For my baby (8 weeks ago) I took the following:
- 4x newborn vest and babygrow
- 4x 0-3 vest and babygrow (did not get used, I would take atleast 2 of each if your told baby is measuring
- 2x blankets (did not get used I ended up using the hospital one they gave me)
- 4x Muslins
- Scratch mits (did not get used)
- 2x hats (did not get used)
- 1x wipes
- 1x pack of 24 nappies
- Pack of nappy sacks
- Personal opinion but I took a dummy aswell

For myself was a bit different as I was in hospital for a week however:
- 2-3x dark bottoms because of bleeding
- plenty of underwear incase bleeding is heavy
- 2-3x tops (one you dont mind if it dosnt come clean after baby being out on you)
- few pairs of socks
- I took a pack of 10 pads
- Any wash things/hair brush etc you might need

With pumping im not sure as I took formula just incase baby didnt take to breastfeeding along with 2 bottles pre-steralised.

Not sure if this helps atall

I took a lamp to get the lighting and mood I wanted. I also took a little fan, like the ones you attach to a stroller. It was wonderful to have during the thick of things.

However curtain things that hospitals give you im pretty sure depends on the hospital.

I wouldnt over pack especially if you have somone that can run things to you if needed

What I actually used was, 1 outfit, 2 pairs of pjs, maternity/period underwear, socks, chapstick, electrolyte packets to mix in water, snacks, some toiletries (although I didn’t take a shower at the hospital I waited until I was discharged the next day) and sliders (although you can bring crocs, slippers ect)

I’d bring disposal underpants of your choosing. Sometimes the hospital brand can be rather itchy. If you’d like assistance in figuring out how to use your pump you can bring and nurses will help.

As what others have said but I also found a handheld fan and water bottle handy

Posting as incognito because I feel ashamed of how I’m feeling. I’m 34+1, I realise I have a while to go but just in floods of tears almost every day because I feel so sore and heavy and like I can’t do anything. I feel like my legs and hips are going to pop out their sockets when I walk and like I’ve been weight training every single day. I don’t know what to do anymore I’ve just sat and cried all evening because I don’t want to do it any longer. Is there anything to help with pain and discomfort or is there any medical reason I’m like this. I was having bad period type cramps all day yesterday but haven’t had anything today other than feeling I can’t even stand up without feeling like my whole body hurts. Is there anything doctors/ consultants/ midwives can do.

Alone overnight after csection

I'd like to hear from people that have done this and how support was from the hospital. I imagine it would vary by hospital though
Unfortunately, we do not have childcare for that period, so hubby has to stay with toddler.
Surgery also in the afternoon

Has anyone had signs ramp up over a few days and actually gone into labour or just false hope?

I’m 37+1 today with my third and my second I went into spontaneous labour at 36+6 so I really thought she’d be here by now 😩 Anyways over the last week I’ve been dry heaving, actually been sick once, I’ve had diarrhoea and loose stools, such a weak bladder, severe insomnia and crazy pressure down below. Every time she moves I can literally feel the pain of her head going in my vagina 🤣 Is is coming or am I just kidding myself 🤦🏻‍♀️

PPROM at 35 weeks

So my due date was 28th September but it turns out my body had other ideas 🙈 on Thursday at 35 weeks 3 days my waters broke spontaneously 🙈 currently in hospital being monitored for the last couple of days but no sign of labour as of yet 🤞🏼 so it looks like I’ll be going home and will be closely monitored and the plan is to induce me at 37 weeks due to high risk factors of infection… please wish us some luck 🥰🤞🏼 we are very nervous!
