Whos in the wrong

So my partner has had gambling addiction in the past so I have full control of his money.
He has a set amount every week until friday to last him for petrol money.
Today is obviously monday and hes asked for petrol money.
Ive said no.
Hes now having a huge tantrum about it and saying it's my fault.

I mean regardless of his previous problems and you may feel like you are helping but this is financial abuse. You cannot stop him from having his own money.

I’m confused as to why he only gets petrol money? Is he not allowed to go buy lunch at work or even a coffee? I think everyone should have control over their finances like I understand taking X amount from him for bills/food/other expenses but he should definitely be able to use whatever is left. I don’t mean to judge i just couldn’t imagine never being able to treat myself to anything x

Several questions here....
1.Does he...
just get money for petrol
Or
is it a set amount for that, another amount for food, another amount for play... ?
2. How tight is his budget, does he have room for price changes, random weeks where he drives more to see friends or something
3. Is this something agreed upon or did you decide it?

Also a suggestion.... Give him money on Mondays instead of Friday so the weekend is at the end of his allowance.

He has money for petrol about about £50 extra for spends

This isn't sustainable. Or effective. And how exhausting is this? I don't know how you're able to have full control over his money, but he's not a functioning adult if he has to ask you for it every time he needs it. Does he pay bills? Buy groceries?

Avatar

What did he spend the petrol money on?
Does he provide you with receipts so he can evidence that he is actually spending the money where it's meant to go?

People are focusing on the arrangement and their opinions on it which is between you and your partner. I assume you wouldn't have control over his finances if it wasn't an agreement that you have both found necessary and have agreed upon. He's obviously shown he can't be trusted with finances and you have taken on this responsibility for his sake and I imagine your own as well. It's not abusing him.

However he should be able to get extra money if it's needed. Maybe you need a system between you where you discuss big purchases/things that might take him over his weekly allowance. Maybe he shows bank statements if necessary. If he's broken trust in the past and this is something you've agreed on together I don't think this is too much to ask, in this sort of situation if you just give money whenever he asks I imagine he could easily slip back into this addiction. Maybe the budget needs revisiting to give him a little more freedom so he doesn't have to beg for a bit of extra money, if he's shown progress.

As someone in a relationship with someone that has not a singular financial responsible bone in his body. Your method can work, he needs to plan, include you, and make better decisions in order to see more freedom. What is truly financial abuse is having to be in yours and my position bc if not, there would be nothing

Sounds like a good plan to me.

It sounds like you guys are working together to help him with his problem and you can beat this my husband had a gambling problem and we did just that. I had control over the bank account we both have PayPal’s so if he needs extra money I can send to him when he’s at work. They randomly have lunch or he needs to stop and get a few things after work like groceries ect

Avatar

This sounds tiring, I feel for you.
Is he getting any type of help?

I’d go take his car to fill it up lol 😂
Then his car is full and he doesn’t waste anymore money …

Would you say I was being rude?

So our stay at an Airbnb was ending in an hour. I did most of the tidying ( as per request or the host, who said they don’t have cleaners so they don’t charge cleaning fees so we need to keep the place as it was before we entered when we leave).

And then I did the most tidying, packing, and placing things in the car as he can’t lift heavy as he says he’s in pain. And the kids 3&5 started entering the rooms I cleaned and made up the bed ( to jump on the bed). I was getting stressed so I told him to get the kids out or he will do the beds again as I have already done them.

He said you don’t need to be rude…

Was I rude?

Venting! Am I in the wrong?

I'm 35 weeks pregnant, soon to have a new born and I have a toddler.

My partner has just told me he wants to join a mastermind. But it will required him to go to Glasgow once a month. We live on the outskirts of London.

My mind its fucking unrealistic so you expect to leave me looking after 2 kids so you can go to a mastermind.... Find one closer.

I'm annoyed.
He is making out it's not unrealistic and "there are ways around it" like he can get his parents to help. Who have neverrrr helped in the past.

He said something like 1 day a month isn't unreasonable, is it.... To me that felt a lil manipulative. Which I told him.

We don't even know what postpartum will be like yet. What the babies temperament will be like. My toddler is going through terrible 2s.

Am I being unreasonable?

If he decide to book onto this master mind, I swear to god I will book a flight or spea weekend once a month and leave him with the kids? 2 can play that game.

Husband is LIVID, threatening divorce

This weekend I was in the hospital with kidney stones measuring up to 5mm. The pain was honestly worst that labor, and I was given a prescription of oxycodone, 1 pill every 4 hours. I didn’t take them and ended up back in the ER and they explained I needed to be taking them even when I wasn’t in pain, because when the pain comes (when the stone starts moving) the pin is already too high for the prescription to work.

That made sense to me, so when I got home, I took a pill with a glass of water and a light lunch. I still had a dull ache, so I asked the girls if they wanted to lay in my bed and watch a movie together, which they did and we watched movies. My husband called to check in on me at some point and I told him I took the pills they gave me, and he FREAKED out. He immediately left and came home. Made the girls get out of our room and go to their own, and was screaming at me that he was so disappointed in me and couldn’t believe me. He saying “and you did that in front of our daughters???” I was shocked, and he just started packing his things and said if I wasn’t sick he’d be kicking me out and he’d be staying with the kids, but he was so disgusted with me he couldn’t look at me and couldn’t stay in the same house. Then he threw his packed bag into the doorway and left without it. He went to hang out with the single mom next door who is always flirting with him. Stayed the night there too, and wouldn’t take my calls. Called in the morning to talk to the girls and then came home to walk them to the bus stop with me.

He followed me into the house after they got on and told me he wanted a divorce. He said I could’ve died taking those pills (I took 1, as prescribed by the doctor) and that I need serious help. He told me that’s not fair to him or the kids when I know his mom died right in front of him and his brother OD’d on pain killers. (Yes I knew these things, but his mom died of natural causes and his brother was an addict. I’m not.) He said he can’t be with me anymore because he can’t even look at me without thinking about what I did. He had off work today so I asked if could call off and we spend the day together and figure it out, but he said no. He said he doesn’t even want to see me anymore. He then left again and walked to the neighbors house, and I went to work.

We’ve been fighting via text since I got here, and I’ve accused him of leaving me for the neighbor because I said this just feels like an insane over reaction and I did nothing wrong. He got more mad and said they’re “just friends” and when I pointed out everything not friendly she’s done he said I’m hilarious and making shit up.

I really don’t know what to think. Was I wrong for taking the medication with our kids home? Am I making too big of a deal over the neighbor ?

Washing up vent LOL

Nothing pisses me off more than when I wash up & tidy the kitchen & my child's father (we're not together, just co parenting until I can move out) sees the empty & clean sink & leaves dirty plates in there again 😤😤😤

If he appreciated me cleaning up, surely he would just wash up after himself? 🙄 Can't fucking wait until the council processes my application so I can start bidding & hopefully it doesn't take too long to get a council place so I can move the fuck out😠🤬
