Sleep!!

Is it normal for my 5month old to wake through the night! He is put into bed at 10pm after a bath and bottle, he normally awakes around 2am! He is pretty easy to settle back to sleep but i am wondering if he should be sleeping through the night until 6-7am and if anyone has tips as to how they got their babies to.

I have tried an earlier bed time but he stirs more frequently so i have decided to keep him at 10 he normally naps at 11am religiously and sometimes has another in the afternoon. He is so irritable in the day as he refuses to nap for a decent time as he has a fear of missing out! Any advice appreciated as i think he could really do with a good nights sleep! (Me too 🥲)

1 wake is a dream, we average 5-7 x

Yes completely normal, he could be hungry as they are still very much growing, he may need nore naps during the day, a baby that refuses to nap is usually an overly tired baby (dosent make sense i know)

My first slept through from 8 weeks my April baby was last week doing 8 hours but we was in Majorca, now back to multiple wakes again💤 I’m exhausted 😂

My 6 and 4 YEAR olds says that all these babies and children that sleep through the night are fake news 🙂🙂🙂🙂 they never sleep through 🤣

On a good night my 4 month old wakes twice, 7/8 times on a bad night. At 5 months it’s totally normal to still wake and have milk 🙂

This came up on my feed so wanted to comment. A 5 month old would still be expected to have at least one milk feed overnight, possibly more. It’s only expected to drop milk feeds at night after 12 months. My April 2023 baby woke multiple times a night until 18 months. He’s now almost 3.5 and still occasionally wakes for a quick cuddle and some reassurance x

Unsafe use of carriers, do you tell them?

I see so many people with small babies using carriers completely wrong but I never know if I should say anything. And if I do, I don’t want to come across like I’m chastising them, I just want their baby to be safe. Would you say something?

Cleaning

How are we cleaning our babies bits?! I try to clean my little girl the best I can but there still looks to be white discharge in between the folds. I dont want her to get sore but also dont really know how to get in there without that hurting too?!

13 Month Review

So my daughter goes to nursery and recently they have reported back about her communication saying it not where they’d expect. Has anyone else had this?

I’d say she isn’t too bad with her communication, she says a few meaningful words, she understands what you say and follows it. She understands gestures like opening and shutting when you say open etc. she points to things she wants.

I constantly talk to her saying the names of objects etc, show her book and name things in them. I sign a lot of gestures that I hope she’ll start to use.

No doubt the nursery are doing what we pay them for by doing observations, and I definitely want my child to progress. But I just feel it’s a bit harsh as I’m doing everything already that they recommend to build communication.

I just don’t know what else to do.

Can you lift the a newborn out of the Moses basket?

This might sound stupid, but everyone says you can't do any lifting so I'm really confused about how I'm supposed to get the baby out of the Moses basket at night.
Do you keep the baby on your side or your partner side and have them help?

Finding joy postpartum - really struggling

I’m less than 2 weeks PP and I’m really struggling to find the joy in motherhood.

I wanted this baby so much, he’s IVF and such a conscious decision but I’m so unhappy.

I’m in touch with my midwives, the MH team, tried Samaritans and PANDAS but I’m only feeling worse.

I think it’s particularly hard because he has a tongue tie that means he cluster feeds basically all day and I can’t do a thing. He’ll scream anywhere but my breast.

I was wondering if anyone struggled post partum, and what they actively did to find joy and connection with their baby? I’m truly starting to wonder if I hate it and if I genuinely love him. I’m so clouded with sadness.

Nappy changes

Just wondering if anybody else also was disgusted by the thought of changing a nappy! I hate the smell and gag at the sight of it when my sister changes my nephew 😭 Any tips for how I can get over this with my own?
