I have to be honest as a first time mum figuring out everything from scratch, I really didn’t know much about wake windows at the beginning when my LO was a newborn and he would be up for hours at a time and get very overtired / irritable and upset and we didn’t know why. We have since learnt that he needs to be asleep far far more frequently but often he won’t go to sleep! I feel really guilty about not really understanding just how often he needed to be asleep in the beginning, however, there are times when we really did (and still do) try to get him to sleep and we do everything possible and he still fight sleep or he will just about drop off to sleep and then wake up again. Sometimes he just fights sleep for hours and is really upset and hard to settle/calm him down ready to go into a sleepy state.
We are struggling with what to do because I’m starting to believe 1 hour wake windows, (especially in the daytime), are not for all babies. FYI my LO is 8 weeks old.
Worried about the impact of a baby not sleeping as much as he should :( worried we have set him up badly for life by being sleep deprived.

It will be ok❤️
The best advice I got was if it takes longer than 15 mins of trying to get them to sleep, stop the whole process for 10 mins or so, play a bit more and then reset and try again. Somewhat ignore the generic wake windows and try and learn sleep cues instead - red eyebrows, looking less engaged etc these will then escalate to yawning, rubbing eyes - it gets easier with time and every baby definitely is different
Once you crack the sleep cues that will be your best time to settle to sleep!
But you’re doing great! Remember to take the breather and reset if sleep doesn’t happen quick, the more stressed you get trying to force it the more he’ll feel that energy and will fight it (I still stress when a nap doesn’t go to plan and I have to tell myself to chill out and I’m 17 months into the game now🤣) mostly just wanted to tell you it will be ok and you haven’t set anything up to fail! X

My baby’s 3 weeks and she’s awake all the damn time! I genuinely have started to believe there’s no way babies are only supposed to stay awake for an hour, she’ll be up for 4hrs straight just looking and occasionally getting fussy, then slightly falling asleep before waking up again to look around, sometimes she does get way overtired tho and getting her to sleep is exhausting

Mine started to really fight sleep at 8 weeks and often she’ll just ping back awake in the afternoon but I know she needs to be asleep a lot of contacts naps are having to take place at the moment r
I am 10.5 months postpartum and still breastfeeding. I have spent the last 5 years pregnant, postpartum, or nursing. We lost our first son during childbirth from a tragic accident. We now have two rainbows who keep me very busy taking care of them. Just wondering how long it took you to start to feel like yourself again? Did anything specific help you get there quicker?!? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

My 7 month old is in a floor bed, which works amazingly at home. We go on holiday in a few weeks where I'll be sharing a double bed with him (there is a travel cot available but he's never really slept in a cot so I don't want this to be our only option as I'm not convinced he'll sleep in it).
The double bed obviously won't be on the floor....what are makeshift budget ways (that actually will stop a rolling around 7 month old) that can stop him rolling out of the 3 open sides without having to spend money on 3 side bed rails?
Any tips welcome x

Do you or have you gave melatonin to your child(ren)? I’m considering it for my soon to be 4 year old…. I’ve tried putting her to sleep at 7pm but she doesn’t fall asleep until after 10pm. We’ve tried taking her outdoors during the day to burn her energy but nothing works. Getting desperate…

Anyone else have a little one ( 1 week old) who is great during the day, sleeps so well, can be put down to sleep and is fine on bottles.
Evening/late night comes and all she wants is to sleep on us and definitely seems a bit windy/struggling to poo even though she’s been fine on the bottles throughout the day

So my boy is 2 weeks 2 days. The first week he slept fine in his bassinet now he will not sleep without touching me! And scream if I put him down. Does anyone safely co sleep or find a way to help them sleep without you? I get super anxious about co sleeping.

The car seat & travel cot/pushchair are all in decent condition. I paid just over £200 for it & was hoping to sell it.
I've posted it on FB but no luck. I'd really like to make a bit of money but it's unfortunately looking like I'll have to give it away for free.
What have you guys done with yours?
