Melatonin

Do you or have you gave melatonin to your child(ren)? I’m considering it for my soon to be 4 year old…. I’ve tried putting her to sleep at 7pm but she doesn’t fall asleep until after 10pm. We’ve tried taking her outdoors during the day to burn her energy but nothing works. Getting desperate…

Try kids magnesium glycinate gummies. I haven giving those to my 4-year-old since she was 3.5 and she sleeps through the night. Though all kids a different. Also though i never did give her melatonin, the only thing i do use but very rarely is the kids dr teals sleep lotion with melatonin.

Yes. My children were approved to have melatonin for a short time. It did not work.

Take her swimming that’s tiring and knocks them out

Just be careful with the melatonin— it’s ok for short term use, but it can lead to dependence, and it does have some side effects if you use it too much. I’d also recommend trying more physical activity, cutting back on sugars, and maybe some lavender essential oils.

What time does she wake up?

I’ve never done it and probably wouldn’t unless there was some kind of disability or medical need that affected things like this.

But also idk if my husband would even allow the kids to take it. Because he took it once and it made him superrrr suicidal. So he’s terrified of it

Melatonin gives me nightmares, so even if I was 100% sure it was safe for such a small child, I wouldn't give it to them

More context? Does she take naps still, if so cut those out. Then try waking her up earlier if need be. My girls wake up at 10a and don’t go to bed until 11p and they sleep 10-11 hrs a night. No melatonin just a strict constant schedule since they were 3m old. They are now; 4 in March. And 3 in September.
Kids rely on schedules and routines. Keep bed time simple, let them read a book in bed until they get tired and go to sleep. Night lights help my kids. They are also in floor beds and are able to play in their room until they fall asleep.
Baths before bed, lotion after with a massage on growing pain spots. Calf’s, arms, belly.
Black out curtains for the windows.
Hope this helps. 💕

7pm is early

Occasionally, but not routinely. Just try to eliminate overstimulation after dinner, but getting energy out physically is good. Also food and what they drink plays a big role..and maybe try skipping the nap?

Is she in school?

I won’t do it. I took melatonin as a child and it gave me horrific nightmares. I took some accidentally recently in a vitamin and genuinely could not wake up. I slept 12 hours and then walked downstairs completely exhausted to sleep even more. Thankful my husband was off that day because I would’ve been in no condition to care for my children. It was a very small dose too. I couldn’t imagine how that feels for a tiny child.

No, would never give them hormones! It also means the body will produce less melatonins over time…

How much day sleep? When does she wake up?
Start with a consistent wake up time, early wake up time! Like 0630 everyday.

Melatonin in the uk is very hard to get. The gp can’t even give it to you. You need a referral from a paediatrician and even then I couldn’t get it for my asd son. I find it strange that there is zero regulation in the US and some parents do seem to give it out like candy.

How long did it take before you felt like yourself again postpartum?!

I am 10.5 months postpartum and still breastfeeding. I have spent the last 5 years pregnant, postpartum, or nursing. We lost our first son during childbirth from a tragic accident. We now have two rainbows who keep me very busy taking care of them. Just wondering how long it took you to start to feel like yourself again? Did anything specific help you get there quicker?!? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Positive Post Partum Experiences

I feel like a lot of the postpartum experiences I see online are often negative. And I completely understand why — sharing those experiences is so important because it brings awareness and reminds other moms that they’re not alone if they’re struggling.

But I’d also love to hear more of the positive experiences! I don’t want to go into postpartum expecting the absolute worst because of everything I’ve seen online.

Does anyone have a positive postpartum experience they’d be willing to share? Or know of any influencers/creators who share more positive postpartum experiences? I’d love some recommendations!

Sleep deprived!

Anyone else have a little one ( 1 week old) who is great during the day, sleeps so well, can be put down to sleep and is fine on bottles.
Evening/late night comes and all she wants is to sleep on us and definitely seems a bit windy/struggling to poo even though she’s been fine on the bottles throughout the day

Has anyone successfully sold their travel systems?

The car seat & travel cot/pushchair are all in decent condition. I paid just over £200 for it & was hoping to sell it.

I've posted it on FB but no luck. I'd really like to make a bit of money but it's unfortunately looking like I'll have to give it away for free.

What have you guys done with yours?
