Positive Post Partum Experiences

I feel like a lot of the postpartum experiences I see online are often negative. And I completely understand why — sharing those experiences is so important because it brings awareness and reminds other moms that they’re not alone if they’re struggling.

But I’d also love to hear more of the positive experiences! I don’t want to go into postpartum expecting the absolute worst because of everything I’ve seen online.

Does anyone have a positive postpartum experience they’d be willing to share? Or know of any influencers/creators who share more positive postpartum experiences? I’d love some recommendations!

Im currently 19 months pp and 10 weeks pregnant. I had the most incredible pp experience, I did have some anxiety and ocd but to a degree I think thats normal. I had a month off and we spent it as a family of 3 in our own little bubble. No one pushed to come over, we did have select people over.
I had depression and I was super worried that my mental health was gonna go down the drain but I actually feel better than I ever have before.
Is there anything you had a question about specifically?

I won't deny the first few weeks were hard and it has been challenging with the lack of sleep which has made me and my partner fight a little... BUT - we just went away with a 2 month old baby for a long weekend to the coast and had the best holiday we've had as a couple.
My partner hates going away and easily gets overwhelmed / irritated by most things (e.g. traffic, crowds, heat ect) and that was before having a baby, yet even he thought it was the best weekend we've had together and it has made us all the more stronger for it. It was at times trying with a 2 month old but the memories we made this weekend were priceless. So much so my partner booked it again next year for a full week.
Postpartum is hard but there are pockets of joy evey day that make it beautiful and so worth it x

You’re baby makes everything better , it hug you didn’t know you need, or love you didn’t know you had . My baby grounds me on bad days. It’s amazing to see them do things for the first time and make sounds. You also have this new sense of self as you weren’t who were before but that version isn’t gone either. It’s so empowering to know we created such a beautiful little human and we are their whole world. The smiles, the coos , the grabs on my arm and holding my finger. It’s one of the best feelings

I’m currently 3 weeks PP and after everything I’d seen online was expecting PP to be horrific and I was lowkey terrified, but i feel amazing, I wasn’t myself throughout pregnancy but it feels as if as soon as I had my baby a switch flipped and all of a sudden I’m back to my old self

I’m loving being a mum and having a newborn, I so much prefer it to pregnancy, I’ve had a couple nights of crying and I’ve been super stressed some nights but we can’t have it perfect lmao and it’s all so so worth it

I had stitches but it didn’t hurt really, it hurt to sneeze but other than that they didn’t bother me, for a few days at about 2 weeks PP they got super itchy and that was terrible but it was only a couple days

I’ve honestly loved it, I was so scared but not everybody’s PP experience is bad even if it seems it when you see everyone online talking about PPD/PPA ect obviously there’s still time for me to develop those but so far so good and I’ve never been happier

Post partum is a challenging time. It can be positive, sure, but every single thing in your life and body is changing & you are caring for another human while sleep deprived..there's going to be some major shifts & adjustments. I mean we lose our freaking hair literally everything changes.

Postpartum experience is bad for some mums because they didn’t get enough support they needed or the right type of support (eg. Unhelpful family comments). No one is supposed to work 24/7 with few hrs of sleep and not every mum is fortunate to have help from family, a helpful baby’s dad and can use paid childcare. The baby’s sleep and help is also another factor that affected the postpartum experience.

I have no family or village. My son has eczema and food allergies and his care has to be quite personalised (families don’t understand).
My postpartum experience didn’t get better until my child is over 1 when he goes to nursery/day care more and when his dad is willing to look after him more hours in the week. Things would have been very different if we have one helpful grandparent to help or can use a nanny.

How long did it take before you felt like yourself again postpartum?!

I am 10.5 months postpartum and still breastfeeding. I have spent the last 5 years pregnant, postpartum, or nursing. We lost our first son during childbirth from a tragic accident. We now have two rainbows who keep me very busy taking care of them. Just wondering how long it took you to start to feel like yourself again? Did anything specific help you get there quicker?!? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Normal toddler behaviour or autism ??

My child has a few behaviours that family have started to pick up on and imply he has autism. I see these as normal toddler traits, as when looking at autism he doesn’t have any of the social/developmental signs, it’s only a few behavioural.

He is very routine set, if you start doing something that routine will stick & he’ll have tantrums if you try to do something else.
He is fixated on wearing a hat, all the time even if if it’s barely sunny; and will pull it down over his face in any form of bright light, will often want to wear it to bed.
He gets very upset and distressed if for example, my dad pushes the pushchair when it’s always my mum that pushes it, or if my grandma holds the dogs lead, when normally my mum holds it.

Outside of these things, he has phenomenal speech, great eye contact, amazing at making friends despite being only 22 months, and has a great interest in food, music & a variety of styles of play.

I think it’s just total toddler behaviour, but I can also see he’s quite particular about certain things others may not be???

Can you lift the a newborn out of the Moses basket?

This might sound stupid, but everyone says you can't do any lifting so I'm really confused about how I'm supposed to get the baby out of the Moses basket at night.
Do you keep the baby on your side or your partner side and have them help?

Unprotected sex 6 weeks postpartum

I've just been so so stupid. I've had unprotected sex and I'm 6 weeks pp. I am exclusively breastfeeding but i know that i can still get pregnant. I guess I just want to know if anyone ended up getting pregnant after having sex this early on whilst breastfeeding?

8 week old

My 8 week old is trying her hardest to stand and crawl. Crazy I know! I don’t want her to damage anything from developing. I’ve been looking at a walker or bouncy chair for her so she has support when doing this craziness. Any advice is welcome on what to do!

Postpartum Supplies

Hi! I’m 35 weeks and about to start buying postpartum supplies. It feels like everything is an ad. What did you buy that you really appreciated having for healing after birth? Thank you!
