Background Noise

We were told to have the TV on during the day so she gets use to noise. Lovely we done that she drunk her milk and slept in the cot fine with the TV no problem … now she has got older she is SO alert and we found she just got super distracted by the TV … wouldn’t feed properly or wouldn’t really play much either etc … now we have no TV … so no background noise but we live in silence when she is asleep and tiptoe around her. So any noise makes her jump …

What is everyone else doing with there LO?

Music is a great alternative, something more upbeat or podcasts

Just make the noise, she'll wake at first but then she'll soon get used to it ! You need to else she'll be a nightmare when she's older and you'll be forever tiptoeing around.
We have a toddler and the baby will sleep through anything, but if she does wake up she'll sleep again another time, not the end of the world. X

For us having a toddler is enough to get him used to loud noises 😅 but put the radio on? Hoover? All your normal daily tasks apart from TV.
My second born is a dream at sleeping in loud places (so far, I know it could always change as sleeps so unpredictable). My first I wasnt as proactive with making noise so he was a crap napper 😅 although I 100 percent think sleep is down to temperament and you just need to do what you can to survive.

With my first we was in silence and darkness during naps 🤣 luckily hes been an amazing sleeper since 10 weeks old and from that point onwards light and sound didn’t effect him . Hes 3 now and never had a problem with his sleep.
My twins .. well we have a 3 year old running riot around them 🤣 they sleep through bloody anything any everything (except each other but I think that’s a twin ‘connectivity’ thing)

Honestly wouldn’t worry about making it loud etc all babies get there at some point it’s just a matter of when they’ll adjust no point really trying to force it .. just get on with your day to day making normal daily sounds and they’ll adjust in time.

I have an excited dog who barks anytime we get a delivery - my baby will wake instantly and let out a big cry, then immediately go back to sleep 😅 I think the shock sets him off but then he realises it’s nothing to worry about. So I’d say make the noise!

Chickenpox at nursery

The nursery has contacted on my sons second day at nursery to say that a baby has chickenpox. This baby was in the same room as my child.

Is there a high chance of him getting it? The baby was removed within 3-4, hours.
I havent had chickenpox myself so I am a bit worried hence me asking.
Are there any steps I can take?
Thanks all

Post partum sex

VAGINAL BIRTHS, NO STITCHES OR COMPLICATIONS -

How long did everyone wait until they had sex? I usually hate these posts now I’m finding myself asking the same question hahahaha. The sexual tension we both have is unreal, we’ve not slept together since 2nd May😮‍💨 i usually have more self discipline than this! Baby was born 10th August so I’m 3 weeks and 2 days, not much blood is on my pads anymore however it’s there when I wipe. We almost tried the other night but I chickened out in case it hurt 😢

How did you encourage your LO to take their first steps?

My LG is 11 months (1 year in 3 weeks) and she is ALWAYS wanting to walk holding my hands. She does it really well and is barely putting any weight on my hands any more and she cruises confidently!

I've been trying to encourage her to take an independent step but every time I do, she crawls to me instead.

Any tips would be great!

Car seat

My LO is 6 months old and hates being in the car. Sometimes she can tolerate a 10-20 minute journey by being distracted with toys, but once she starts crying she gets herself so worked up, which is so difficult when driving alone. I’ve tried her in the front (airbags turned off) and it worked for one journey but the journey back she was in hysterics by the time we got home.

I’m unsure if it has anything to do with the car seat, for reference she is 6 months old, and we have the joie I-level pro car seat, so it is fine for her age and weight/length, but unsure if the capsule car seat is causing discomfort.

Has anyone experienced this then changed to a bigger car seat and had better results, or any ideas how to keep her distracted? We do so many car journeys, and usually when I’m sat in the back with her she’s okay for a bit longer but once she’s in hysterics I have to take her out to calm her down

Any advice would be much appreciated!

How many bottles do you have?

Typically how many bottles do you have? I know it depends on how often you wash them etc. We have 4 at the moment but looking at buying a couple more to avoid washing as often.

Husband mentioned being celibate

My husband is on a bit of a self-improvement/discovery journey and mentioned yesterday about the idea of being celibate for a while to see if it improves his mental state focus on other things. He said that he is curious around how if would affect him. How would you feel?
