Hey, I gave birth there last year and had a great positive experience, all the midwives were lovely and very hands on with everything I needed. xx hopefully everything goes fine for you :)

I’ve had 2 babies here, both inductions and not one bad thing to be said, amazing staff!

I did in may this year and the midwives were lovely, I had to have an emergency c section ( not due to the hospital) and they were so kind, reassuring and gave me all info in an easy to digest way ❤️

I’m also having my birth there any day now, it’s meant to be a good hospital for births xx

Hey, I gave birth there 11 weeks ago via c-section. Staff were amazing, very helpful and lovely. There’s a room that has snacks that you or your partner can help yourself to as well as cups of tea and coffee but they do come round asking if you want a drink and they will feed you on a morning and night if you want the food but we got a McDonald’s on the evening. I was in my own room and my partner was allowed to stay for the full night but it was so hot! Definitely take a fan as they don’t allow you to open a window🤣x

It’s a really good hospital the birth rooms amazing but the room after was sooooo hot and they were limited with linen so I would recommend taking a towel the staff are so lovely

I gave birth here last year and had complications when delivering. They were all absolutely amazing and I’m so thankful for all the staff. 100% would give birth there again. But yes, it’s HOT 🤣 xx

I gave birth there 2 years ago. Staff were brilliant! I had to stay in for 3 days due to pre-eclampsia. Staff only came into my room to do my obs when they saw me up feeding my daughter. Never disturbed me during the night.

I did last year!
My 1st midwife throughout labour/ induction was called Patricia and honestly what an absolute see you next Tuesday ! She kept telling me I needed epidural because I wasn’t handling the pain well and honestly just being rude AF (could have been a cultural difference). A lot of other things went wrong in her care she kept upping the induction machine (not sure of the name) when she was told not to and my baby’s heart rate kept dropping as he couldn’t handle it.
However my 2nd lot of midwives Amy and I forgot the other girls name was absolutely amazing we were laughing all the way through. They swapped shifts and within 2 hours my baby boy was born, they were so supportive, turned the machine off because they said I didn’t need it, like I say made me laugh and honestly just took good care of myself my mam and partner by offering them drinks and snacks.

I gave birth in the hottest room known to man so take a fan ! Cool packs and have bottled water in your freezer

Hi I had my little girl almost a year ago at sunderland and wasn't any issues, one midwife was weird with me and pushed all of the liquid for my antibiotics straight into the iv and caused me soo much pain but she was the only negative part of my experience. It was fine otherwise 💕

Gave birth there in December last year via induction and midwives/consultants were great. Held my hand when I was scared, tied my hair up for me and were really reassuring. Only negative was there was a lot of waiting around for a room to become available as they were so busy but couldn’t be helped x

Let's be so real... how's everyone finding maternity leave?

Someone asked me, "Are you enjoying your maternity leave?" As in going out, doing things, making the most of it.

Honestly? I haven't been out much at all. I've mostly been at home with my baby, and it definitely hasn't been easy. There have been hard days. My mum comes over and cooks for me sometimes, which I'm so grateful for.

But if you asked whether I'm enjoying maternity leave, I'd actually say yes. I'm genuinely enjoying the slower pace, being at home with my baby, and not feeling like I have to be out all the time. It's not glamorous, and it's not always easy, but these quiet days mean a lot to me.

How's everyone else enjoying their maternity leave? Are you out and about, or are you embracing the slow days at home too?

I’m 5 months PP

Bloody show

Had a sweep yesterday and think I might have passed my bloody show today . Am I meant to call triage or not? I did ask them yday and they didn’t seem very bothered about that but I also didn’t feel she gave a direct answer

Stretch and sweep

I had my first stretch and sweep in this pregnancy as I’m exactly 40 weeks today! I was told I’m 1-2cm dilated but my cervix is still a bit high/thickened.
I’m hoping as this is my second pregnancy the membrane sweep will work but did anyone else experience this and did they go into labour?

Start/stop contractions

FTM here, this morning I woke up around 2:30am with contractions and thought I should start timing them as they felt really regular and getting stronger. Called the midwife line after an hour as they were like 3/4 minutes apart, got told to come in for observations and they monitored me for a couple of hours and was surprised how strong the contractions were and having 4 within a 10 minute timeframe. They did a cervical check and was only 1cm dilated, so got given some pain meds and sent home. Since then the contractions have mostly stopped, is this normal? Seems so strange cause they were so intense and frequent and I really thought it was happening lol

Blood thinner injections...

Im a week PP and was prescribed 6 weeks of the blood thinners but I absolutely hate them!

At the end of my c-section the anaesthetist said i qualified for 10 days but the surgeon jumped in a said no my bmi is over 40 so it has to be 6 weeks. Thing is, my bmi only hit 40 at the end of the pregnancy so typically its below 40 and ive rapidly lost since the section too...

Would I be crazy to stop at 10 days and not do the full 6 weeks? Its such a big time difference and im really struggling with it 😫😫
