Struggling with bowel movements

My little girl is on Cow and Gate. She is 6 weeks old. She has just gone 3 days without pooping but has lots of wind. I gave her liquid lactose. Gave her 4ml over two days, and she pooped today.

have you spoken to your health visitor? they can get him an appointment with the GP to check for any underlying issues. but it’s very common! my daughter struggled with constipation and still does and she has ended up being prescribed laxatives which she takes most days. there are lots of stretches/movements that support bowel movements which i’m sure you’ve tried but if not give that a good go! long soaks in the bath also help bowel movements so a bath everyday may help! xx

Yes, we had this and we switched to kendamil comfort and it was a complete game changer x

This is normal at 4 weeks, look up infant dyschezia. They are learning to use their bowels. It will pass after a few weeks

I wouldn't change formula without speaking to your GP as this could upset his stomach more. We were also on infacol around this after advice from a GP however was referred to a baby clinic due to her bloating and not pooing for 7 days and found out it was actually making our baby constipated so stopped.

Pooing every few days can be normal as long as they are not boated and trumps aren't really smelly and they are feeding ok.

This is quite normal for a baby that’s fully formula fed. My health visitor said I could give my LO a few sips of cool boiled water. This especially helps when it’s hot too x
