I went out to eat with my friend Tara. I actually invited her out and wanted to do something nice for her birthday. Since she was not having a party or doing anything special I decided I’d plan a dinner for her and pay for her meal. Now, I have no problem paying for my friends meal I was planning to do it from the beginning. However, Tara brought her boyfriend and her Mother to this dinner with her without letting me know they were coming. Long story short when the waitress asked how the checks were going to be.. I said I’d pay for mine and Tara’s. Tara’s mother and boyfriend told me I was rude to not pick up their tab. Even threw in the comment that I “must be broke.” Nothing else was said after that. It was awkward for me and I felt like my kind gesture was blowing up in my face. My friend did not say anything to her mother and man for saying those things to me. Which made me feel even worse.

Tara knew what she was doing when she invited 2 more people and allowed them to insult you. Tara’s boyfriend is a broke ass bitch for not stepping up and being a man. They’re projecting and I wouldn’t want a friend like Tara personally. You deserve better.

What she said ⬆️
I would never expect anyone to pay for me like that. Idiots

Bill should’ve actually been split into 3, with extra for the bday girl so bday girl eats free, we do that all the time. You should NOT have paid for everyone, your offer was to shout her and her only. It was either, split bill equally into 3 and so each person pays a lil extra to cover for bday girl or, your original offer of yours and hers. Next time if ever happens again (w someone else) make it clear you booked for a table of 2. She was wrong to just bring them along and they were wrong to not have spoken up and offered to split. And that’s only if everyone ate equally. I would tell her outright my feelings. She didn’t defend you or try to make it fair, I think she was also hoping you’d pay for everyone so I’d tell her outright and probably drop her as a friend coz wtf.
I texted her after to explain how I felt and her response was apparently because i orchestrated the dinner I should have paid the whole bill. It’s “expected” 360 that anyone who plans the dinner should pay for the plan dinner. Mind you I planned the dinner for TWO of us. Thank you guys.

That is the craziest thing I have ever heard, her cheap mom should have paid for her! (And you!)

What the actual fuck ! Why even bring them for a start and second you’re not a Charity …
They obviously only came thinking they’d get a free meal cheeky fuckers !! The audacity of people really does baffle me at times

Tara doesn’t sound like a friend

Is this a real story ? 🤯
My son just started year 1. When I picked him up on friday ( second day of school) he was very upset. Said this boy said he doesn’t like my son because he has a bad haircut.
My son was realllyyy upset. The day before I had spoken to the boys mum during pick up and she seemed nice.
The thing is, they just mixed the classes for year one and the other boy wasn’t in his class before. But when we went to the summer fair just before the school closed ( the school hosted it) the boy was there and my son said how he was being mean to my son and his friend in the playground.
What should I do ? Should I dismiss it for now, or speak to the teacher?
What should I say to the teacher?
I don’t want to seem like I am complaining the first week of school, but I don’t want my son to come home upset either.

Hi Moms,
Remember my post about joining the Navy and potentially leaving my son with my husband while I’m away? The arrangement was contingent on me sending him all of the housing allowance, plus additional financial support.
There is a history of DV, and so many of you warned me that putting myself in that position could be extremely risky. You told me not to do it.
Well… update.
While I was helping my husband rebuild his resume and update his professional profiles, including LinkedIn, I discovered that he had been talking to another woman.
He denied it until I showed him what I found. Then he became quiet. No remorse. Nothing.
I didn’t want him anywhere near me after that, so I made him sleep on the floor.
Over Labor Day weekend, he spent the night somewhere else.
Then, to my absolute shock, I found out that he had sent naked pictures of me to friends, even his own brother.
He also took our only car without telling me where he was going and took all of the bank cards with him.
At this point, part of me just wants to go straight to the police and then to a DV shelter.
I’m nauseous. I keep feeling like I want to shower over and over again.
And in the middle of all of this, my son keeps asking me, “Where is Daddy?”
That is the part that breaks me.
I keep thinking about packing a bag, taking my child and leaving the moment I have the opportunity.
Then another part of me thinks about the trauma and instability this could create for my little boy. Maybe I should find a job, quietly become financially independent, prepare everything properly and then get us out.
I don’t know anymore.
My husband is 18 years older than me. I’m an expat here with no family support system, yet somehow I am expected to provide for him AND our son while trying to rebuild my own life.
I AM TIRED.
Tired of princess men.
Tired of liars.
Tired of being in survival mode.
And guess who looks like the bad person through the eyes of my son?
Me.
Because he is too little to understand what his father is doing, and I will not put that burden on his little soul or tell him adult things he should never have to carry.
As I’m writing this, it’s 2 pm the next day and he still isn’t home.
I genuinely don’t know whether I should pack our things and leave now, or stay long enough to secure a job and financially prepare my exit.
I could really use advice from moms who have been through something similar, especially those who had to leave without family nearby.

My baby just turned 8 months and everything is still such a struggle.
I just totally didn't realise how hard having a baby is. Every new phase is hard and I'm constantly second guessing myself, wondering if I'm failing or doing the best that I can for my little boy. Every day feels like a fight and I'm exhausted.
I feel so bad that I wish away his baby months, and I can't wait until he's a proper little fun person toddling around and communicating with me.
I'm sad that this is not how I thought maternity leave would be. I thought it would be happier and full of love. Whereas it's exhausting, and full of anxiety.
Just sharing, in case others feel the same way. I know we'll get through this, but it's just bloody hard in the meantime...
