Food portion sizes

What sort of portion size is everyone giving their 6 moths old? Are they finishing it all or leaving some, and are they one just the 1 meal per day?

We've been following the 30 day plan in the "How to wean your baby book" by Charlotte Stirling-Reed and our little girl is HATING it šŸ˜‚ we're almost at the end and i think she's successfully chewed and swallowed maybe 4 of the foods we've done so god knows what will happen when we try going on to two meals a day šŸ˜‚
BUT! They say "food before one should be fun" - their main source of food will still be milk at this point so don't stress too much! X

Thanks, I haven't heard of that book I'll look it up. My little boy loves his food he's eaten everything we've given him so far and sometimes clears his bowl (not always), was just interested to see how much people are giving and if I'm giving him enough or should offer more if he finishes it.

Hopefully she'll start to enjoy food soon! šŸ™‚

I dont measure, he just gets a small amount of what we have. He doesnt often finish his plate, but sometimes he will - but i don't particularly care whether he finishes. My 3 year old rarely finishes his meals either.

Yesterday I gave our baby two strips of chicken thigh, a tbsp of rice and two pieces of tenderstem broccoli. He ate about half.

Do nurseries and the school system own our children? My sis put her 2 year old son into nursery and wanted to pick him up early and the nursery wouldnt allow her :/

Her daughter whose in reception gets off at 3, her son at 4:30, she wanted to pick her son up at 3 so she wouldnt have to drive back at 4:30 and the nursery told her she couldnt do that and her son HAD to stay until 4:30. When she complained they said it was illegal for her to do that!? Is this right?

Baby rejecting me?

Hey mamas please help me with any info you might have! My 14 month old has recently started rejecting me heavily. He’s still breastfed and I’m his primary care giver. Whenever dad is home he’s all about daddy. It’s been like that for a while, but lately it’s gotten a lot worse. He’s started being mean to me when he’s home, pushing me away, going to him for everything. It breaks my heart. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice? Thanks!

Can I have a rant please?

Basically I've been with my partner for 16 years, we've got a 6 year old and now have 4 month old twins. When my oldest was born he hardly helped out at all, only when he started getting older and now its been the same with my twins. I honestly thought it would be different this time around, but I've been doing everything with my twins, all the feeds, nappy changes, taking them out and going to baby classes things like that. I ask him for help but he will make us excuses like ' they will fall asleep on me' ' my back hurts' or he will be in the middle of playing his game and will say ' i can't pause it'

We recently had an argument and haven't spoken properly since which is making things alot worse.
Do I try and salvage this? Or leave?

I’m so overthinking it!

My little boy is almost 7 months and we started weaning slightly early, so he’s probably been eating now for just over a month! We’ve tried to make it so he eats as similarly to us as possible - for example at the start he ate the raw/basic ingredients of our meals like if we had fajitas he’d have avocado and plain roasted versions of the veg. Now he’s moved on to no salt versions of what we eat and is loving it!
Tomorrow, I’m making veggie fish tacos but I make them with fake fish fingers lol, on Yuka they score 75/100 and have less than 1g of salt (only just) but obviously they are UPF, would you give it?? We eat very little food that we don’t make from scratch so it would really be a one off. I have tofu in as a back up so it still looks like our food(ish), I feel like I’m going crazy and I’m so worried of him not ending up with a good relationship with food 🫣
I’ve added a picture of his lil meal from tonight which was all from scratch just to make me feel better šŸ˜‚

How would you feel?

our 3 old was crying in hysterics at night time, I gave him calpol I tried to soothe him I stood up to comfort him and laid down and tried to make him sleep, this was going on for hours it seemed but must have been 20/30 minutes but nothing I was doing was working, he wanted his dad. When my husband walked in after hearing him scream at that point I was laying down with our son and had given up I was hoping he’d just cry to sleep even when I was patting him he hated it.

My husband came in and was furious he blurted out and screamed at me that I can’t do anything and that he regrets marrying me, he regrets having children (we’ve been married 8 years and 2 kids) I’ve always had doubts about his sincerity because I feel insecure and he doesn’t help that. And this was like a knife to my heart. Or the final nail to the coffin.

We haven’t spoken since Friday night, his mum has been calling me because he went round to hers saying he wants me to leave and to kick me out, to call my parents to pick me and the kids up. She came over today to ā€œsort itā€. She sat us down and made us say what is wrong and he just said he said what he wanted to say in the car to her, I said well I wasn’t in the car to know what you said?! He then said that I am mean to the kids, I speak harshly to them and I’m annoyed with them and that he doesn’t like that I don’t always cook or clean šŸ™ƒ

Ive also been to the doctors recently I have extremely low iron and vitamin d so my motivation is lost and my body is always tired.

Anyways she mediated this ā€œmeetingā€ and I actually stopped giving too much info because I thought wtf am i doing and just agreed to her big lectures on husband / wife compromises. My husand agreed that looking after kids is hard and that he won’t be so harsh with me. He left after that to go to work and picked up the lunch box I made for him. He turned and tried to smile and give me a gesture that we normally do like everything is okay now.

I just don’t know how to feel about this. Shall I just carry on as normal and forget this happened? Or shall i hold the grudge? Shall I leave ? Shall I see this as he regrets what he said on Friday and thought it was a big deal that’s why he had to get his mum involved to save the day?

Are you comfortable with a male nursery worker looking after your child?

My June 2025 daughter goes to the same nursery as my 3YO son and I’ve never thought anything of the all-female staff. A young male apprentice has just joined the team (long hair, wears make up, quiet) and I’ve found myself uncomfortable about him looking after my kids? I don’t want to feel this way as it’s absolutely prejudice at this stage!! I feel like an awful judgmental person. Please be honest with me- are you okay with this?
