Going out to see friends?

What happens if you want to go out for dinner with a friend and Dad is at home with the two kids? (23months and 2months)

My partner has just said he doesn’t feel comfortable he can do bedtime whilst looking after both kids.

I feel this will impact me getting out the house as I can either see a friend 6-8:30pm or after 9pm (travel time not included). I’m currently on MAT so this is my only free time away from home without kids

Context: I see my two friends about once every 4-6 weeks. My partner said he needs a few more months to feel comfortable

How else is he supposed to learn if he doesn’t do it?

He needs to learn. Just explain it to him.

My partner would do 2x bedtimes now, but when baby was 2months old I don’t think he would have been able to but mainly due to me breastfeeding. If baby is bottle fed and all can be managed I think partner can handle it, but also think it could be intimidating the first time. But then once they do it will be easier

I just go ahead and go, he’ll make it and feel comfortable before he knows it lol.

I meant to vote go after bedtime but just at the start. Let him take the lead in putting the kids to bed, but be there as moral support for the kids. Then when the kids are comfortable then I’ll go before or after depending on my plans.

wish I had someone to help me everyday. Its called learn as you go 🤣😅

How does he think you do bedtime with two when he's not there? He needs to just crack on and sort it like you likely have to when you're on your own with them🤷‍♀️🫠 men honestly

If he doesn't know how to do it he can learn how to do it...

Yeah, most women aren't quite ready for a newborn and the demands and schedule that entails but you learn as you go my man. Are they alive? Are they unharmed? Then it went fine. It won't go smoothly the first time, but you learn and get the groove of things.

Thanks ladies, will defo be sharing the poll results with him! I done my first solo dual bedtime tonight so hopefully that’ll give him a boost of confidence

We both always make sure to be home by bedtime. Only have not followed this rule a handful of times. It cuts things short but my kids are very hard to put to sleep and it’s hard to do alone. He has done it alone a few times successfully. But they just won’t let me leave them. So when I do it it’s a disaster.

Neither of us like it, so we do our best to be home to help

Tbh I would just tell him that sucks. He wanted these kids he gets to figure this out the exact same way I did: trial and error. No one teaches women what to do anymore, we ask people or we ask the internet. He is also capable of doing those. One night a month? He can handle it 🙄

Can I get a script for this?? My son talks about his penis

I don't consider this sensitive topic but I toggled it on anyway just in case

My son woke up in the morning and usually take off his diaper wipe him down and put on his underwear

Yesterday morning he said look Mommy my penis is big because he had a morning erection I guess is what it was

And I said yes your body changes throughout the day and that's good noticing. Your body is healthy and strong

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I'M SUPPOSED TO SAY?!!!! LOL.

I am a single mom and sometimes I cry thinking I have to do it all by myself.. I have no idea where to bring this topic to

I'm worried and afraid that when the time comes I won't have the right perspective to respond like I'm supposed to

I'm open to ideas please or just a mindset for this kind of thing. I think I did okay but I don't always know what to say

Am I the weirdo??

So just came back from a new baby group (been moved up to a toddler group). I'd say the age group is predominantly 12-24 months (there's a few old and a few younger). And for context my son is 14 months. At the end of the group there's a snack time and the lady comes out with boxes of raisins and a pack of rich tea biscuits! All these babies are munching on biscuits and eating probably the worst type of fruit for little teeth. When offered a snack for my son I say "no he's ok" and move on.

I get called out by another parent asking why not. I say we don't do sugar or salt until after 2. They think this is really really weird.

Am I weird? I thought this was a national guideline? (UK)
I'm just trying to protect my sons current and future health, eating habits and his teeth.

I see babies eating all sorts of rubbish, sugary, processed foods and sugary drinks and it boils my blood. I never say anything though of course.

Do you think I'm weird for wanting my son to only eat clean healthy foods until 2 years old?

Starting nursery and husbands anxiety

My LO is 11 months old. We have always used huckleberry to track everything which is exhausting to me. However it has helped us over the last 11 months by using chatgpt to analyse the data, spot patterns and trends etc. Her sleep is absolutely amazing now.

My husband insists we continue to track everything until she goes to nursery.

He wants us to prepare a handover document detailing everything about her from her sleep, feeding, separation anxiety etc. Even down the the level that she sleeps at x time and what to do if naps dont go to plan. I feel this is quite patronising to the nursery staff... I get that they would want brief information on how she settles and roughly what time she sleeps etc but I feel he is going over the top...

Did anyone else do this?

Anyone who works in a nursery, what are your views on this?

3 years old, never been to a setting - extremely distressed & upset! Is this normal? How long till it last?

My son has never been to a setting before but aged 3 now I’ve sent him to a forest school nursery. But he’s screaming crying every morning mummy please don’t leave me here I don’t know anyone Etc. I try to reassure him but he’s unconsolable. He’s managing 45 mins to 1 hour a day at the minute. Does it get easier?
