Keeping them entertained / happy all day

Ladies, what are we doing to keep our little ones happy / entertained throughout the day? Idk about your little ones but mine has like zero interest in toys anymore, he just wants anything he shouldn’t have and he won’t sit and play by himself usually for more than say 5 mins before crying and fussing to be picked up. I’m struggling so much to get stuff done around the house unless his dad takes him out (which I hate as I’ve realised I have massive separation anxiety with him!!) or if he’s asleep…

Like all he wants to do is hold my hand and stand up, walk around holding my hands or try to grab things he shouldn’t have (my phone, random unsafe objects stones, etc etc!) and I bought him a playpen too so I can put him in there and do stuff but he just cries at the begging for me to get him! I know I could probably let him get on with it more than I do but it’s not in my nature to let him cry, I rush to him straightaway and I can’t change that. So what can I do to keep him happy? Any suggestions would be amazing 🙏🏼

Having the playpen where you are? Kitchen etc.. more engaging open ended toys also could help

My lo spends most of his time in his playpen because we have hard laminate and I’m terrified he’ll fall and hurt himself badly ! I use a rotation of toys , in the morning I usually have quiet ambience and toys like crinkle books etc, shape sorters so on after lunch I pull out noisier toys like ball poppers and stackers etc he doesn’t necessarily play with them as intended but he enjoys the toy rotation ! Then after a couple of weeks I take them and swap with other toys .. I’ve got a few that I leave out then swap over seems to work well… I almost always have music of some sort playing too incase I’m out the room for a moment

Can I get a script for this?? My son talks about his penis

I don't consider this sensitive topic but I toggled it on anyway just in case

My son woke up in the morning and usually take off his diaper wipe him down and put on his underwear

Yesterday morning he said look Mommy my penis is big because he had a morning erection I guess is what it was

And I said yes your body changes throughout the day and that's good noticing. Your body is healthy and strong

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I'M SUPPOSED TO SAY?!!!! LOL.

I am a single mom and sometimes I cry thinking I have to do it all by myself.. I have no idea where to bring this topic to

I'm worried and afraid that when the time comes I won't have the right perspective to respond like I'm supposed to

I'm open to ideas please or just a mindset for this kind of thing. I think I did okay but I don't always know what to say

Am I the weirdo??

So just came back from a new baby group (been moved up to a toddler group). I'd say the age group is predominantly 12-24 months (there's a few old and a few younger). And for context my son is 14 months. At the end of the group there's a snack time and the lady comes out with boxes of raisins and a pack of rich tea biscuits! All these babies are munching on biscuits and eating probably the worst type of fruit for little teeth. When offered a snack for my son I say "no he's ok" and move on.

I get called out by another parent asking why not. I say we don't do sugar or salt until after 2. They think this is really really weird.

Am I weird? I thought this was a national guideline? (UK)
I'm just trying to protect my sons current and future health, eating habits and his teeth.

I see babies eating all sorts of rubbish, sugary, processed foods and sugary drinks and it boils my blood. I never say anything though of course.

Do you think I'm weird for wanting my son to only eat clean healthy foods until 2 years old?

Starting nursery and husbands anxiety

My LO is 11 months old. We have always used huckleberry to track everything which is exhausting to me. However it has helped us over the last 11 months by using chatgpt to analyse the data, spot patterns and trends etc. Her sleep is absolutely amazing now.

My husband insists we continue to track everything until she goes to nursery.

He wants us to prepare a handover document detailing everything about her from her sleep, feeding, separation anxiety etc. Even down the the level that she sleeps at x time and what to do if naps dont go to plan. I feel this is quite patronising to the nursery staff... I get that they would want brief information on how she settles and roughly what time she sleeps etc but I feel he is going over the top...

Did anyone else do this?

Anyone who works in a nursery, what are your views on this?

3 years old, never been to a setting - extremely distressed & upset! Is this normal? How long till it last?

My son has never been to a setting before but aged 3 now I’ve sent him to a forest school nursery. But he’s screaming crying every morning mummy please don’t leave me here I don’t know anyone Etc. I try to reassure him but he’s unconsolable. He’s managing 45 mins to 1 hour a day at the minute. Does it get easier?

Going out to see friends?

What happens if you want to go out for dinner with a friend and Dad is at home with the two kids? (23months and 2months)

My partner has just said he doesn’t feel comfortable he can do bedtime whilst looking after both kids.

I feel this will impact me getting out the house as I can either see a friend 6-8:30pm or after 9pm (travel time not included). I’m currently on MAT so this is my only free time away from home without kids

Context: I see my two friends about once every 4-6 weeks. My partner said he needs a few more months to feel comfortable

What does everyone else do?
